The Planning, Integration & Analytics team supports various key strategic projects within the department and Engineering division that require strong collaboration and effective communication with stakeholders across the organization. The Asset Investment Analyst will play a key role leading and supporting these strategic change initiatives within the Planning, Integration and Analytics team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, maintain and improve investment planning processes and decision support tools
- Lead and facilitate the program narrative development as part of the Investment Planning and Portfolio Reporting (IPPR) process which includes coordination with various stakeholders in the organization
- Support the development and further enhancement of key strategic projects including EAIP application which improves Toronto Hydro's ability to make more data-driven and value-based optimization decisions for its execution work program.
- Review engineering work and plans relating to capacity planning, system planning, and maintenance planning and support drafting of numerous documentation such as the Strategic Asset Management Plan and Asset Management Plans to support ISO 55001 alignment initiatives
- Conduct analysis involving large data sets and multiple variables in response to data needs for investment and maintenance planning, regulatory requests, and support Asset Records by improving the quality of data within Toronto Hydro
- Demonstrate effective project management skills and conduct duties as a strong team player with demonstrated success in stakeholder management
- Develop and introduce new and innovative tools, processes, and information technology solutions for strategic investment planning purposes
- Assist in defining project scope, drafting business cases, conducting feasibility studies and completing cost benefit analysis
- Stay current with industry developments and practices, specifically those within asset management, grid modernization, innovation and the future energy system
- Work in accordance with safety performance standards and promote a safety culture
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering preferred)
- Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience with Asset Management and Utility experience being preferred
- Asset Management Certificate or Diploma is strongly preferred
- Project management designation considered an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- 2-3 years of experience with data preparation and wrangling is highly desirable
- Experience with Python/R, Alteryx, SQL and Tableau (preferably in a utility environment) considered an asset
- Self-motivated, operates with a high degree of independence and takes ownership of work, striving for a standard of excellence
- Aptitude and experience in adapting to, managing and facilitating change, as well as a willingness to challenge the status quo

- Fully proficient in the use of the entire Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Access, Project and Visio

- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Understanding of regulatory obligations and the rate application process for Local Distribution Companies considered an asset
- Excellent analytical, technical, and business solution development skills, including the proven ability to function effectively in a dynamic environment
