Key Roles & Responsibilities
Working independently, the incumbent will:
- Identify and perform tasks as required to meet objectives.
- Lead complex problem-solving efforts and provide innovative engineering solutions for difficult problems.
- Coordinate assigned projects, studies, and initiatives through completion.
- Comply with safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Prepare and present reports including recommendations to resolve complex issues.
- Participate in and, on occasion, lead special projects and committees.
Position Specific Job Duties and Skill Requirements
- Knowledge in Mechanical areas of expertise, including such areas as system and component design, heat transfer and fluid flow analysis; piping and HVAC system design, including ANSI standards and ASME code requirements; pump, valve, tank, heat exchanger, fastener, and other mechanical components design and performance characteristics and specifications.
- Pipe stress analysis
- Experience running engineering modeling and analysis software and experience with associated software quality assurance requirements.
- Able to prepare mechanical design changes and supporting calculations.
- Able to assess and resolve potential conditions adverse to quality.
- Able to perform tasks in accordance with established expectations for nuclear safety and personnel safety.
- Able to perform regular plant walkdowns of systems to gather information to support design and analysis activities.
Work Environment
- Occasional long, irregular hours including work in excess of 12-hour days for extended periods.
- Occasional travel between company facilities and overnight travel.
- Work is often in an industrial power plant environment of operating equipment and machinery. Some engineering work is in an outdoor environment during extremes of weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Industrial, Nuclear)
- At least 6 yrs. related job experience
