Pipeline Integrity Engineer 1
As part of the NiSource Transmission Integrity Team (TIMP), Engineer I provides technical expertise to solve problems, improve processes, and provides direction of work in a specific area of his or her expertise, with supervision and oversight. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with greater independence.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in area of expertise
- Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities
- Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches
- Exercises critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Continually improves job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance
- Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities and resolve problems/issues
- Maintains accurate records and files
- Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally
- Seek and incorporate feedback from internal and external stakeholders
- Actively seeks creative solutions and enhanced efficiencies
- Provide support for commission audits and preparation
Qualifications
- 0-2 years of experience utility experience or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited college/university program.
- Demonstrated understanding of basic engineering/technical theories and principals.
- Demonstrated understanding of basic practices of researching technical design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations
- Written and oral communication skills
- Organizational and planning skills
- Valid drivers license
Desired Qualifications
- Understanding of/experience with basic principles of project management
- Desired engineering disciplines include civil, mechanical, electrical, and industrial
- Experience in the utility industry
- Engineer in Training certificate
- Working knowledge of industry codes, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures
- NACE Certifications-Level 1
