Program Eligibility  

  • You have graduated with your bachelor's degree in 2023, 2024 or will graduate by May 2025  
  • Or, you are currently completing a master's degree in a related field, you are graduating by May 2025, and have a maximum of 1 year between completing your bachelor's degree and enrolling in your master's program.  
  • Good Academic Standing (A copy of your Official/Unofficial Transcript)  
  • Valid, permanent driver's license (Ontario Class G)  

Transmission & Stations Engineering

Engineers within Engineering Services at Hydro One Networks Inc. are engaged in a variety of challenging and exciting roles and responsibilities. Transmission and Stations Engineering provides multi-disciplinary engineering and drafting services to support Hydro One's capital work program. Transmission and Stations Engineering is split across four engineering disciplines - Stations, Protection & Control, Telecom, Transmission Lines and supported by the Engineering Enablement Team. Our team provides a full range of engineering services including feasibility studies, conceptual engineering, estimating, failure analysis, Protection, Control & Metering design, CADD Support, technical authority roles and support to our Planning, Operating and Field Organizations

We are looking for Structural and Municipal New Graduates for our Transmission & Stations Engineering team.

Civil (Structural & Municipal) engineers in the Transmission and Stations Engineering team are primarily involved with the design of high voltage transmission lines and transmission stations with 115kV or higher voltage levels.  This includes performing structural design and analysis of steel, wood, and concrete structures, design of foundation and anchorage systems, and working with layouts provided by Electrical Arrangement engineers.  Other work of civil municipal engineers would include also the design of the transformer station grading and drainage, access roads, service roads and spill control systems.  Engineers work closely with Stations Electrical engineering and other engineering disciplines to deliver work programs released by Asset Management to improve efficiency at Hydro One.

  • Strong technical presentation skills that ensure audience could grasp sophisticated (or simple) technical information/ideas.
  • Details oriented and quality driven in day-to-day routine, or complex tasks, maintains focus to ensure high quality work.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems including power system related problems, breakdown to manageable tasks and implement solutions.
  • Basic, practical, and technical knowledge in electrical theory, design, analysis, and application.
  • Good understanding and knowledge/experience in using software applications:
    • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
    • Design tools such as AutoCAD.
  • Familiar with structural finite element modelling including SAP2000 or PLS-CADD
  • Familiar with general engineering project life cycles and processes.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Must meet New Grad Program Eligibility Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited university with degree in Bachelor or higher in Civil - Municipal or Civil-Structural Engineering
  • Valid driver license in Ontario
  • Relevant internship or professional work experience in support of transmission line design or transmission stations design
