What you will do

Provides strategic direction for the implementation and administration of compensation programs that are equitable, aligned with company objectives and provide excellent competitive positioning in the markets in which the company operates.

Designs and maintains salary structures that support internal equity; regularly evaluate and update salary structures to ensure alignment with the company's compensation philosophy.

Manages the administration of incentive programs including short-term, long-term, and performance; recommends plan design changes and enhancements based on market data and company needs.

Oversees the annual salary planning process including merit increases, promotions, and equity adjustments; provides recommendations for salary budgets through regular market analysis and analyzing of compensation data and trends.

Leads the ongoing design and management of the company's job architecture, including job descriptions, job families, levels, and governance.

Monitors the changing legal landscape so that compensation programs are administered consistently and in accordance with plan documents, and applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Ensures compensation programs are achieving intended outcomes and being administered fairly, consistently, and transparently across the organization.

Develops strategies for educating the organization on compensation programs, policies, and practices.

Partner with HR business partners, recruiters, and business leaders to provide guidance on compensation-related matters; serves as compensation subject matter expert and trusted advisor on complex compensation issues.

Engages in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy's Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.
Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Human Resources, Business Administration, Economics, or related area. Preferred
Required Experience
-
5 years progressively responsible experience working with compensation strategy and administration
-
Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation preferred
-
3 years progressively more responsible management experience
-
Previous experience being accountable for the strategic design and management of compensation programs
Preferred Experience

Proficiency in compensation tools and software such as PayScale, MarketPay or similar.

Demonstrated ability to develop short- and long-term strategic plans and translate those plans into action.

Demonstrated effective leadership skills.

Demonstrated financial skills such as budgeting and basic accounting.
