Idaho Power located in vibrant Hagerman, Idaho is looking for an Generation Specialist Apprentice I, II, or Journeyman to join our Hagerman Maintenance team. It's an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. What does a Generation Specialist do for us?

Under limited supervision, performs the necessary maintenance functions essential for the safe and efficient operation of the area plants and facilities. This individual works independently, and in a team environment with other generation specialists, in performing preventive and corrective maintenance on the power facilities, buildings, hatcheries, roads, parks, and other associated equipment as well as completing necessary upgrades. They're responsible for welding, machine work, millwright, and electrical work at hydro-electric facilities and fish hatcheries.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Knowledge of:

  • Foundational electrical theory and the function, operation, troubleshooting and repair of complex equipment through use of drawings and instructional manuals
  • Basic math including geometry, trigonometry, and algebra
  • Machine alignment
  • Use of precision measuring devices and tools
  • Rigging practices

Skills in:

  • Maintenance and/or operation of power plants
  • Inspection and maintenance of heavy equipment
  • Welding and fabrication
  • Pulling trailers and load securement
  • Operation of computer systems, software, and programs

Ability to:

  • Maintain high productivity with minimal supervision
  • Perform heavy manual labor in adverse conditions
  • Communicate effectively
  • Establish positive working relationships in a team-based environment
  • Conflict resolution
  • respond to emergencies in excess of normal working hours
  • Perform other duties/tasks as assigned
