EES Coke Operations is a facility in River Rouge, MI on Zug Island. The plant produces coke from various types of coal blends and is then used as fuel in the blast furnaces at the steel mill.
This is not a position with Detroit Edison, it's a position with EES Coke Battery, which is a subsidiary of DTE Energy.
The position includes health, dental, vision, and prescription insurance starting day one of employment. Currently, we are offering a $2,500 signing bonus and an additional $2,500 upon successful completion of the probationary period of 1,040 hours. This position also receives quarterly bonuses of up to $7,500 per year, based on EES Coke Battery's quality and production. The pay range for this position is $43.26 - $48.20.
The person in this job will work a 12-hour rotating shift. The schedule is a 4-week rotation; you will work 14 out of 28 days with 7 days off in a row somewhere within the 4-week rotation.
Job Summary
Location: River Rouge, MI
Performs all maintenance functions necessary to maintain all operating and service equipment using standard and specialized tools and equipment including mobile equipment as required. Operates equipment in conjunction with repairs and assists in operating functions as necessary to maintain continuity of operations. May work alone, with minimal supervision or with other Maintenance Technicians and coordinates and works in conjunction with operating team members in the performance of maintenance tasks.
This job has three levels (A, B, C) that an individual may progress through once the minimum experience requirement is met and the written test is passed. Passing the first test within a level will earn the electrician the mid-range pay rate, and the second test passed will progress the electrician to the third and highest pay rate within that level.

Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED
A valid driver's license
Must be a licensed journeyman with 5 or more years of relevant experience including the following:
Deep understanding of DC motor controls, and full knowledge of motor start controls. Understanding of the power distribution system with the ability to perform isolations for breaker maintenance, PLC's and Delta V systems.
Must pass the Electrician III written test
Strong safety experience
Ability to work in a team orientated atmosphere
Demonstrated capability to achieve results through people, technology, and processing equipment
Good knowledge of the assigned area(s) of responsibility
Ability to function within a matrix organization where employees report to both a functional leader and a business leader
Ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with coworkers and business unit leaders
