DUTIES:
Often working alone under indirect or intermittent supervision to do maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment repairs at Ameren Missouri's Solar energy centers. Equipment includes items such as inverter skids, PV panels, combiner boxes, Solar Plant Control SCADA systems, and meteorological stations. In connection with this work, responsibilities and duties include:
- Ensure safe working conditions including Workman's Protection Assurance where appropriate to ensure that equipment to be worked on has been properly isolated and protected.
- Utilize schematics or other drawings, plans, manuals, etc. to install, troubleshoot, diagnose, calibrate, repair, and perform routine maintenance and inspections of plant equipment and systems including utility scale inverters, modules, power meters, meteorological stations, and data acquisition systems.
- Perform required site-specific preventive maintenance activities on Utility Scale PV systems.
- Perform switching operations on collection substation equipment.
- Access and communicate fault conditions and site statuses from the plant controller and SCADA systems.
- Troubleshoot, test and repair/replace DC energy collectors, wiring, conduit, junction boxes, hangers, and supports.
- Perform equipment coupling work and alignments on tracking systems. Perform oil changes and take samples for testing.
- Operate fork lifts, shop equipment, portable power tools, hand tools and test equipment as required to accomplish assigned jobs.
- Rigging and hoisting of heavier components may be required during maintenance and repairs.
- Sweep, mop, and clean O&M building floors, furniture, and restrooms. Check lights and replace bulbs as needed in and around the building. Load and unload material and equipment as required.
- Clear vegetation when necessary to access equipment.
- Check and maintain firefighting equipment. Perform incipient firefighting duties and contact/assist emergency response personnel.
- Maintain daily electronic logs of operations, maintenance, and repair activities. Prepare reports of work done and complete necessary forms as required.
SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- For carrying out prescribed safety precautions and safeguards for their protection and others when working near energized circuits.
- Subject to callouts, overtime, and working weekends as required.
- Work with subcontractors to perform equipment service and maintenance work, as needed.
- Keep management personnel apprised of system and equipment statuses and any problems or emergency conditions.
- Perform special assignments, such as set up and operate equipment for cleaning or testing.
CONTACTS:
Routinely exchange information with other energy center employees and employees of other departments.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Predominantly outdoor environment with the possibility of extreme weather and temperatures; at times with sudden changes from one extreme to another.
- Subject to noise, dusts, fumes, odors, drafts, and slippery work surfaces.
- Frequent travel between sites.
