PNM is looking for its next Transmission Planning Engineer that will perform critical studies focused on interconnection and integration of renewable resources in New Mexico. With over 300+ days of sun each year, New Mexico has significant renewable resource potential and successful candidates will be critical in the state¿s transition to a fully carbon free grid and economy! This position will be heavily involved in the FERC Open Access Transmission Tariff (OATT) Interconnection study process and will play a key role in designing the transmission system to operate reliably with significant inverter-based resources. The role focuses on assets operating from 345 kV to 46 kV level. Transmission level utility planning engineering experience preferred, including powerflow and stability study performance experience (PSS®E or PSFL experience and/or PSCAD). Personnel in this job title may be covered by NERC CIP cyber security standards. If the position is covered, prior to being hired, promoted, or transferred into the position, the candidate must successfully pass a Personnel Risk Assessment, which includes identity verification and a criminal background check. Prior to being granted unescorted access to cyber secure areas, the candidate must attend cyber security training. Annual cyber security training is also required.

Given the financial nature of this position, this position may be required to obtain a credit check depending on location. If the position is covered, prior to being hired, promoted, or transferred into the position, the candidate must successfully pass a credit background check.

SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates large and significant engineering projects and/or a number of small projects that are complex in nature and often functions as staff advisor and consultant by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides the diverse and advanced engineering and project management expertise associated with large and high-profile projects and/or a number of small projects with many complex features

Leads or conducts performance, cost and scheduling studies/evaluations that require advanced and innovative techniques and/or the modifications of standard practices and precepts

Provides the operational areas with highly skilled and diversified expertise

Communicates engineering ideas, recommendations and evaluations to diverse internal and external audiences

Represents the companys interests in advanced engineering matters

Identifies and resolves broad technical and/or organizational issues affecting the company goals and objectives

Provides advanced technical support as a staff advisor or consultant to, and interacts with other associates

Applies extensive engineering expertise to improve or develop new standards

Provides advanced and often highly innovative technical direction and/or activity supervision to contractors and company personnel on an as-needed basis

Functions as a lead for staff engineers, professionals, and technicians and as appropriate, provides training
