Summary
SRP is recruiting for a Solution Center/Help Desk Student Intern. The immediate business need is for the Student Intern to be able to work a minimum of 25-30 hours per week, Monday through Friday with daily scheduled hours based on the department's needs. However, there is availability for the student intern to work over 30 hours per week if their school schedule permits. The ideal candidate will be a college Freshman, Sophomore or Junior in an IT related curriculum who has completed coursework to develop skills appropriate for the assignment.
Selected candidate must be enrolled in college for a minimum of 6 credit hours (100+ level) during the Spring and Fall semesters to qualify.
What You'll Do
The selected candidate will:
- Provide phone/chat assistance to internal SRP clients with varying degrees of technical knowledge
- Provide excellent customer service demonstrating patience while effectively dealing with client problems
- Perform problem-solving over the phone or through chat and determine appropriate course of problem escalation as required, while ensuring detailed written documentation.
What It Takes To Succeed
Pay Structure and Internship Eligibility:
- To be eligible for the Student Intern Program at SRP, the employee must be actively enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours that are college level (100) or above over the course of a regular semester (Spring and Fall) and must be working towards a degree from an accredited college or university.
- For an accelerated program, the student must be enrolled in six credit hours in the equivalent of a traditional semester.
- Pay rate is $18.75 per hour for an undergraduate intern and $20.80 per hour for a graduate intern.
Experience
Preferred requirements include familiarity with many of the following:
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), Outlook, Exchange
- Microsoft 365 (MS365) applications
- Windows Operating Systems: Windows 10
- Internet Explorer, Chrome and Microsoft EDGE to include understanding configuration and properties
- Networking, to include general knowledge of user accounts and login, FTP, dial-up/VPN, and Intranet vs. Internet
- Desktop hardware, including the ability to problem-solve hardware component issues
- Laptop hardware, including wireless
- Smartphones, Android and iPhones
Education
College level coursework (100+) from an accredited institution will be evaluated on an individual basis according to the skill/level to determine if applicable to the position by management.
