JOB SUMMARY
The Data Analytics Analyst provides application and programming support to the Nuclear Technology Solutions (NTS) Data Analytics team located in Birmingham, Alabama at the Energy Center. Their responsibilities include collaborating closely with Southern Nuclear Corporation (SNC) business partners to create and support reporting applications, databases, data models, and reports. These tools aid in enhancing decision-making processes by identifying trends and analyzing data to uncover insights into business operations and challenges.
A broad technical and business background, as well as the ability to think strategically and act tactically, are important dimensions for success in this role. Experience in power generation, specifically nuclear power, would be advantageous.
The Data Analytics Analyst is required to comply with all Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations including the requirement to successfully pass (>80%) NRC and Southern Nuclear Corporation (SNC) yearly required exams. In addition, initial/random Federal Drug Testing program, psychological testing, and criminal background investigations are required to ensure a drug/alcohol free work environment and to ensure employees are trustworthy and reliable.
This job utilizes a hybrid work schedule which requires the selected individual to physically work from a Southern Nuclear location (The Energy Center, Plant Farley, Hatch, Vogtle 1&2 or Vogtle 3&4) on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Additional days on site may be required as business conditions or locations require. Telecommuting during scheduled office days is only allowed on a case-by-case basis pending manager approval. Travel is expected to be less than 10%.
Ability to work physically from the Energy Center is highly preferred.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a Bachelors in a non-technical degree with 6+ years of experience in Information Technology/Computer Science is preferred. Individuals currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology will be considered.
Experience and Knowledge:
- Proficiency with SQL in both Microsoft and Oracle environments, and with reporting and visualization tools such as SQL Server Reporting Services, DAX, Visual Studio, Report Builder, Qlik, and Power BI.

Experience with Databricks, SQL Server Integration Services, Azure Machine Learning, and Azure AI Services is a plus.

Demonstrated success in setting up reporting standards, as well as strategies for data upkeep and collection.

Experience with database support and server management is highly desirable.

Programming experience is preferred, particularly in C# and Python.
