Position Summary

The Project Controls Supervisor will establish or improve systems, tools, and reporting to aid employees with schedule tracking and analysis. The Supervisor will provide consistent guidance to employees, including proper scheduling practice and procedure adherence, to ensure successful implementation of projects on time and within budget and authorization.

This job will have a flexible location between Auberry and Auburn offices.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $ 118,000

Bay Area Maximum: $ 188,000

&/OR

California Minimum: $ 112,000

California Maximum: $ 179,000

Job Responsibilities

  • Acts as the lead for project controls personnel and activities throughout Power Generation. Responsible for staffing, performance management and standardization of functions throughout the group. Most of the staff will be deployed throughout the entire Power Generation territory with shared management responsibilities with the areas where those resources are deployed.
  • Responsible for portfolio cost validation and schedule tracking, analysis, and reporting. Helps to investigate and provide recommendations for corrective actions in regards to suspicious cost and schedule variances.
  • Works with Business Planning in preparing the annual budget and schedule plan and leads employees in providing accurate and timely monthly schedule updates and forecasting of the annual budget
  • Educates and ensures team members understand and follow all applicable procedures and requirements.
  • Coordinates, leads, and participates in meetings, and/or task force teams, in regards to schedule issues, system, or process changes, that impact the Project & Outage Controls organization.
  • Acts as a "systems" subject matter expert. For example: P6, SAP, SPSI, Heavy Bid, PPM, SharePoint, Excel.
  • Leads assigned initiatives aimed as process improvements.
  • Supervise Project Management Analysts (PMA) and/or Schedulers which will include deployed resources working throughout the entire Power Generation territory.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Business Finance, Engineering, or other similarly related field.
  • Seven years job related experience
  • Travel is expected between 25 - 50% of the time. Travel is throughout PG&E's Northern California Hydro service area.

Desired:

  • PMP or PE
  • Experience in Project Controls at a team leader or supervisory level
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and projects
  • Ability to develop and manage project schedules, including earned value, for project durations ranging from months to several years
  • Ability to develop and manage project cost plans and forecasts for projects ranging from simple to complex
  • Knowledge and experience with portfolio management concepts and how to develop and maintain portfolio reporting to monitor the health of a project portfolio scope, schedule and cost/budget
  • Knowledge and experience with risk management principals, ability to develop risk registers and maintain throughout the life of a project
  • Extensive knowledge of systems / tools: Database management, SAP, SPSI, PPM, P6, MS Project, SharePoint, Heavy Bid, Excel, PowerPoint
