Job Summary

The Chemistry Foreman is responsible for the activities of the Chemistry Laboratory and Chemistry Operations.

Responsible for reviewing the surveillances, reports, and other documentation generated by the lab to support operation of the plant.

Supervises calibrations and functional testing on effluent radiation monitors.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Review Chemistry surveillances.

2. Direct, supervise and schedule work being performed in the lab and plant by Chemistry personnel (technicians).

3. Review and develop resolutions for audit findings and condition reports.

4. Perform task evaluations for technician certification and other training issues.

5. Responsible for the overall conduct of in plant sampling and analysis, programs to assure that a qualified staff is performing the analyses, and review of Chemistry data.

6. Recommend improvements to training programs for technicians.

7. Perform observations of and coach chemistry technicians.

8. Maintain necessary qualifications and expertise to be able to respond and lead in plant response to upset conditions within the Nuclear Emergency Response Organization.

9. Administrative duties as needed.

Basic Qualifications

High School Diploma Practical knowledge of a nuclear power plant and chemistry radio chemistry. Four years experience at a nuclear power plant.

FSAR Qualifications

f) Management Position Responsible for Plant Chemistry/Environmental

Education: Shall hold a high school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Shall have five years experience in chemistry of which one year shall be in radiochemistry at an operating nuclear power plant. Two years of this five years experience shall be related technical training. A maximum of four years of this five years experience may be related technical or academic training.

Preferred Qualifications

Two years experience as a Senior Technician. Associates or B.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field.
