Position Summary
As a New Construction Manager (NCM) at Oncor, you'll serve as the primary contact for residential, commercial, and industrial developers to determine new or expanded service needs. This person will learn and maintain knowledge of all Company policies, knowledge of accepted distribution and transmission system standards, and a complete understanding of distribution and transmission infrastructure layout serving new customers.
This position will be based in our West Texas - Midland/Odessa service area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements.
- Point of contact for initial customer consultation to determine expanse, requirements, and schedule of the service request.
- Serve as team lead in the management of the negotiation, development and preparation, and securitization of agreements and contracts with customer.
- Build and maintain relationships with builders, developers, city personnel, and customers to proactively meet customer needs.
- Provide project management services from inception to completion to ensure reliable, economical, safe and timely extension of electric distribution services while meeting customer requirements and expectations.
- Resolve any company or customer issues concerning the extension of facilities, and proactively communicate concerns to management in an organized manner.
- Effectively manage multiple complex projects concurrently, coordinate, and lead a NCM team involving managing multiple projects.
- Actively participate in personal developmental planning and training to expand knowledge and opportunities.
- Understand the application of and effectively communicate the Company's line extension policy related to expansion of company facilities.
- Functions in a leadership role for the coordination of work activities and internal/external communications, providing design/policy interpretation, concurrence, and business decisions.
- Reviews and approves agreements prepared by others within work group per delegation of authority.
- Routinely performs tasks normally handled by other groups. (Example: Performs both NCM and Design roles for assigned projects.)
- Recognized as the SME for specific company initiatives.
- Routinely communicates with other workgroups including providing leadership, support and training.
- Provide forecast of work activity and estimated project completion dates.
- Communicate with customers and other work groups to ensure internal and external expectations are met.
- Participates in special projects and committee assignments as requested.
- Leads the new construction team in project initiation, design, construction scheduling and installation.
- Assists Manager/Supervisor in supporting and training team members.
- Must be able and available to assist in storm restoration efforts.
Skills:
- Provide excellent customer service and collect all necessary information and forms.
- Negotiating skills to secure all required contracts for electric service delivery.
- Key point of contact both internally and externally for project from inception to close including with residential subdivisions, apartment complexes supporting Commercial and Industrial customers.
- Working knowledge of relevant Microsoft computer systems and applications such as Excel, Word, and Power Point.
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent AND 15 or more years of combined direct or related experience in project management, construction, operations, engineering, or design.
- Will consider applicants with Bachelors or Associates Degree in a technical related curriculum and 10 or more years of combined direct or related experience in project management, construction, operations, engineering, or design.
