Meter Field Analyst participates (at varying levels of responsibility) in the review and analysis of ERCOT Market's EPS (ERCOT Polled Settlement) Metering Facilities to ensure they are properly certified, inspected, documented, and are providing accurate energy flow information. Uses and validates loss compensation and instrument transformer accuracy calculations used for energy registration. Ensures that the electric energy production and consumption for EPS metering facilities are metered per Protocol and Settlement Metering Operating Guides (SMOG) requirements.

JOB DUTIES

  • Broadly applies principles, theories and concepts related to the profession. A seasoned, experienced professional with an in-depth/full understanding of area of specialization.
  • May provide recommendations regarding issues outside the bounds of defined procedures and practices. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Wide latitude for decisions within assignments, programs, and projects; impact is generally limited to the project or department.
  • Acts as a resource to advise and may at times a lead the work of lower level professional and/or support employees. Generally, represents the department on projects and may perform in a project leadership role.

ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES

  • Contributes to the review and approval process for temporary exemption requests from Protocol requirements for EPS Metering Facilities
  • Ensures electric energy production and consumption for EPS Metering Facilities is metered per ERCOT Protocol standards
  • Interacts on a daily basis with TDSP personal to resolve issues with documentation or address questions on standards and Protocol requirements for EPS Metering Facilities
  • Performs site audits of EPS Metering Facilities, throughout the Region
  • Performs audits and inspections of Authorized Meter Inspectors procedures
  • Performs site audits of EPS Metering Facilities, throughout the Region, to ensure inspection, certification, and documentation of EPS metering installations is in compliance with the Protocols
  • Performs audits and inspections of Authorized Meter Inspectors procedures to ensure compliance with Protocols and metering standards
  • Assists in the review and approval process for Temporary Exemption Requests from Protocol requirements for EPS Metering Facilities, including assisting in the communication for any data related issue to ensure accurate generation data is provided for settlements
  • Assists in systems development, product implementation, and general workflow procedures for the Settlement Metering Department
  • Traces physical metering facilities to verify conformance to engineering one-line and three-line schematic diagrams submitted to ERCOT
  • Assists in the development and administration of ERCOT Authorized Meter Inspector Training Programs
  • Reviews engineering and other technical documentation to administer and verify market participant compliance to Protocols and guides as they relate to EPS metering facilities
  • Acts as a point-of-contact for Market Participant related questions and issues for EPS metering
  • Provides assistance and expertise in metering related stakeholder groups
  • Assists in the development and implementation of ERCOT metering protocols and business procedures consistent with SB7 and ERCOT business rules
  • Develops expertise in procedures and business rules related to EPS meter data acquisition, generation aggregation, generation registration and generation settlements
  • Develops and maintains working knowledge of operations needed to support business needs
  • Clearly communicates complex technical concepts both in a written and oral manner
  • Works well independently and exhibits decision making abilities as evidenced by appropriate decisions
  • Assists in preparing and delivering presentations within ERCOT and to Market Participant Working Groups

EXPERIENCE

  • Prefers experience in electricity metering (REQUIRED for higher level positions).

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree Electrical Engineering or related field
  • or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required
