An Engineering Technologist II applies developing technical expertise to solve simple problems and management skills to provide oversight of work in a specific area of developing expertise, with close supervision. An Engineering Technologist II is expected to develop skills and ability in their field of study and work with some degree of independence.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

Applies technical expertise in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in area of expertise,

Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities,

Applies beginner level knowledge in preparing thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches,
-
Conducts engineering and related studies
-
Understanding of basic Protection and Control schemes concepts.

Assists Settings Engineer with modeling questions, documentation, and follow-up.

Strives to continually improve job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance,
-
Supports Baseline Fault current comparison per requirements of PRC-027 R2 requirements and generate evidence.

Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities,

Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills,

Maintains accurate records and files,

Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (or equivalent) OR
-
Associate degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent) AND two (2) years minimum of related experience OR
-
In lieu of above degrees, high school diploma/GED AND six (6) years minimum of related experience
Desired Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds

Understanding of basic principles of project management
-
Experience with power system modeling using Aspen One-Liner software or equivalent software (CAPE, PSSE, etc.)
-
Familiarity with Aspen Relay Database, SEL-5010, SEL-5030 AcSELerator , EnerVista UR software.

Experience in the electric utility industry
Working Conditions

Hybrid Mobility Classification - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to the Duke Energy facility.
