Summary

APS is looking for full time ABET Accredited Engineering students  who can help guide our business forward! Students who are interested in experiencing, practicing and learning business, engineering, information systems and fundamentals in real work settings. The Palo Verde Summer internship is a paid 10 week program. During the 10 weeks at Palo Verde you will be equipped with the tools needed to thrive and be challenged with meaningful individual and group projects.  You will get support from leaders who will help you succeed.The APS internship program was recognized in 2020 and 2021 as a Top 100 Internship Program. Interns will also have the opportunity to participate in a New Hire Orientation, Professional Development opportunities and company tours to learn more about Palo Verde and Arizona Public Service.

The Palo Verde Internship is a paid 10 week program starting in May, ending in July. Qualified students will receive housing during the program, if an in person internship.

The primary recruiting method for Palo Verde is through attendance of college career fairs.

Minimum Requirements

Actively enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university undergraduate program in an engineering discipline or related applied science discipline. Approved Engineer degrees: Materials Science/Metallurgy, Physics, Chemistry, Math, Nuclear, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Electronics, Computer Science, Environmental, Chemical, Architectural, Structural. 

 

(A four-year bachelor of Engineering Technology degree is not considered an automatic equivalent for a B.S. degree in Engineering. A review of the degree program curriculum must be completed by Engineering department management.)

Must show ongoing achievement in areas of study and training.

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.2
  • Actively enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university undergraduate Electrical EngineeringComputer Engineering, Computer Science, or Cybersecurity program
  • Knowledge and ability to apply basic discipline engineering principles
  • Practices and theories and use commonly applied engineering approaches and calculations
  • Problem analysis/resolution techniques
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, practices, methods and safety standards in the area of applicable engineering discipline
