Serving in this critical role, you will develop and implement a strategy to shape security policy outcomes and company, industry, or cross-sector risk reduction initiatives that align with company interests. The Senior Advisor partners with company and industry stakeholders to support SCE's leadership role building the security resilience of the nation's energy system.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!
- Create or engage in opportunities for critical infrastructure operators and government officials to assess shared security risks and surface opportunities to mitigate risk.
- Maintain awareness of national security and resilience issues to provide policy insight and recommendations to the CEO, Chief Security Officer, Chief of Federal Public Affairs, General Counsel and other company leaders. Serve as principal staffer for CEO co-chair of the Electric Subsector Coordinating Council. Lead preparation of internal assessments of federal energy and security policy initiatives.
- Build cohesion between industry and federal agencies implementing threat-informed critical infrastructure security policy and risk reduction initiatives. Create and maintain productive relationships with government agencies, senior national security leaders, industry groups, and other external partners with significant impact on Edison's security objectives. Bridge multiple internal units including SCE's security, resilience, law, and public affairs departments.
- Ensure Edison's view on security policy is delivered in a consistent voice in external forums of influence including committees, working groups and cross-company, cross-industry, and public-private engagements. Partner with communications team to craft internal and external messages about company and industry intersection with national security issues.
- Enable operational collaboration between government and industry threat analysis teams.
- A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
The Essentials
- Ten (10) or more years of experience in Cybersecurity, Public Policy, or Government Security related roles.
- Experience and effectiveness working across business units, with executives, and in collaboration with government staff.
- Experience counseling senior leaders including C-Suite executives or Cabinet-level officials\: coordinating agendas, developing talking points, engaging stakeholders, communicating outcomes.
- Experience and demonstrated keen judgement in facilitating debate, influencing and negotiating to consensus.
- Experience reviewing proposed federal policies or legislation.
- Strong representational skills, including effective verbal and written communication.
The Preferred
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Public Policy, Homeland Security, Cybersecurity, Political Science, Information Security, Physical Security, Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
- Experience with partner organizations (NERC, FERC, DOE, DHS) and knowledge of key policies (NERC CIP, DOE initiatives, etc.).
- Current government security clearance or ability to obtain a US Government security clearance.
You should know
- This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

- This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
- The primary work location for this position is Washington, DC. However, the successful candidate may also be asked to work for an extended amount of time at alternate office locations.
- Position will require up to 50% traveling nationally.
- Relocation may apply to this position.
