Description
JOB SUMMARY

The Data Management Technician creates and maintains accurate records of EPB's system in a timely, cost-effective manner. Facility records are created and maintained using data management tools to represent EPB's electric and fiber systems. The data is integrated across numerous accounting, work management, facilities management, equipment, outage, graphical, and analysis databases. This position aims to supply accurate information to internal customers promptly after construction is complete or system changes occur.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and maintain accurate graphical information of EPB's electric and communications system via the current graphics software package.
  • Maintain additional customer information for outage management analysis, matching records between graphics, billing, and equipment databases.
  • Close completed work orders by updating original designs with as-built changes in the work management system. Consult with supervisors to clarify changes.
  • Update various databases to maintain EPB's facilities records, including equipment, lighting, premise data, and job management records for fiber.
  • Manage premise data: verifying premise location, creating new premises, updating premise information, and validating MSAG data as necessary.
  • Perform field inspections of facilities related to data management.
  • Create and maintain an accurate graphical representation of EPB's substations, including wiring diagrams, schematics, point-to-point drawings, electrical layouts, one-lines, foundation prints, etc. Maintain the substation connectivity drawings in graphics as well.
  • Maintain land base data in the graphical environment including, g streets, street names, landmarks, buildings, rivers, city, county, and tax district boundaries. Landbase is maintained for two scales of maps.
  • Assist with coordinating the Joint Utilities Notification System to manage pole transfers and attachments.
  • Manage billable item data in the billing system for private lights and graphical data for streetlight billing.
  • Perform scout, bird dog duties, and other responsibilities during storm conditions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's Degree in a relevant technical field preferred or an equivalent combination of related training and experience.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and some knowledge of drawing software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.

CERTIFICATION(S) AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in state of residence and demonstrate safe and responsible operation of motor vehicles.
  • Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, probability, and statistics required.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations required.
  • Understanding of fiber and electric connectivity in graphics to support outage software, facilities management fiber, and demand and analysis electric software required.
  • Knowledge or the ability to quickly learn other EPB applications such as Powerplan, enQuesta, Omnia, Computer Aided Dispatch, Microstation, Gtechnology, Cascade, AutoCAD, and any Web app.
