Description
Primary Purpose:
Plans and/or designs, develops, coordinates, and manages complex projects for additions and modifications to company gas and electric facilities from onset through completion of project. Negotiates and secures complex contracts and agreements that specify work, costs and scheduling responsibilities for assigned key customers. Ensures customer satisfaction. Meets with key customers, customer representatives, government agencies, and other utilities in planning and coordinating additions and modifications to gas and electric facilities. Responsible to mentor and coach Customer Project Planners.Duties and Responsibilities:
- Designs and/or manages complex projects for additions and modifications to company gas and electric facilities as assigned.
- Independently manages several concurrent projects, assignments and activities. Interprets Company policies; mediates and resolves disputes.
- Completes special assignments or studies. In a lead capacity, completes special assignments related to ongoing process improvements, training or special projects.
- Mentors or provides training and coaching for Customer Project Planners. Conducts meetings or presentations at department, team or project meetings.
- Reviews work orders completed by Customer Project Planners prior to submission for approvals. Oversees or prepares construction orders with safe, reliable, and cost-effective designs that conform to company standards, safety orders, and governmental regulations.
- Applies complex rule applications and explains them along with associated costs and contracts to the customer.
- Negotiates and secures complex contracts and agreements that specify work, cost and scheduling responsibilities.
- Ensures results meet customer needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Qualifications
Hybrid Schedule:
- Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow the employee to work onsite three days per week and remotely on the remaining workdays.
- Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.
Required Qualifications:
- H.S. Diploma/GED High School diploma or equivalency.
- 3-5 years proficient experience in the Customer Project Planner position.
- Has thorough understanding of: business practices, job processes, engineering principles, OH, UG and Gas Standards, Design Manual, Service Planning Manual, Service Guide and CPUC Rules.
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency to expedite jobs and quickly solves issues for all customers.
- Demonstrated leadership through participation in training and mentoring and by exhibiting the core Sempra values.
- Demonstrated a strong focus on teamwork and achieving department and corporate goals.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer systems: SAP, GIS, AutoCAD, and Outlook.
- Self-managed worker.
