JOB SUMMARY:
This Accountant position is responsible for performing advanced financial accounting functions including, but not limited to the review and analysis of new, amended, and extended fiber lease contracts to determine the proper accounting treatment, preparing various journal entries, completing account reconciliations, preparing financial statements including the Income Statement and Balance Sheet for Telecom subsidiary, providing accounting direction to those outside of Accounting, maintaining process documentation, and presenting detailed analysis of financial transactions and results to Executive management.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting is required.

Active CPA license is preferred.

5 plus years of accounting experience is preferred.

Strong knowledge of (GAAP) is required.

Experience in performing analysis on financial transactions and results is required.

Ability to handle multiple projects with competing and tight deadlines with minimal supervision.

Experience with MS Office (specifically Excel) is required.

Strong knowledge of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is a plus.

Experience with Oracle Cloud ERP is a plus.

Detail-oriented with strong critical thinking, proactive problem-solving skills, and excellent follow through.

Effective written and verbal communication skills within team and Executive management

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide accounting direction to business development team for all fiber lease or sale contract negotiations related to Southern Telecom

Responsible for accounting related to commercial and affiliate revenues of Southern Telecom

Prepare monthly accounting entries and properly maintain supporting documentation.

Prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, accounts receivables, purchasing and other related financial activities.

Provide explanations for monthly trial balance review with accounting team and management.

Review financial results and provide analysis to Executive management.

Prepare monthly Balance Sheet and Income Statement and quarterly Cash Flow Statement using GAAP.

Perform analysis of balance sheet account reconciliations

Prepare various internal and financial reports including actual vs budget analyses.

Provide accounting research, information, and assistance for special projects and data requests.

Ensure proper accounting treatment for new revenue contracts.

Maintain current documentation of accounting processes.

Assist both internal and external auditors with data requests.
-
Ensure internal controls surrounding responsibilities are adequate and functioning.
