Become a Strategic Planning Senior Manager at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will report to the Principal Manager of Strategic Planning at SCE and play a central role in advancing SCE's long-term strategy for the company, centered around our pathway to achieve California's ambitious climate goals. You will help lead the development, update and implementation of SCE's overall strategy across operating units. A day in the life - Get ready to think big and work smart!

You will bring thought leadership in many ways. You will have your finger on the pulse of the industry and the latest trends that would impact and shape our business. You will keep track of key developments from our SCE business to drive the right insights for our strategy. You will manage our SCE strategic planning process and collaborate with the Edison International (EIX) strategy team and SCE business units to craft our long-term vision, strategy and plan, and monitor progress toward strategic objectives. You'll also mentor and drive the team toward excellence.

Core parts of the job include:

  • Leading functional strategy responsibilities, including managing board of directors' strategy deliverables (e.g., strategic topics session in April, annual strategy review in June), coordinating with SCE's Business Planning and Finance teams on company-wide business/financial planning, preparing corporate strategy scorecard on a regular basis, interacting with operational excellence and people initiatives, and synching up with enterprise risk management efforts
  • Owning the SCE Strategic Planning team's interface on key topics or focus areas, working with Technology Strategy, System Planning & Engineering and EIX Growth & Innovation teams on technology strategy efforts, EIX Sustainability team on sustainability strategy, and Resource and Environmental Planning & Strategy (REPS) team on decarbonization and climate adaptation strategies
  • Support team's core operational functions (i.e., budgeting, consultant management, recruiting)
  • Providing insights on sector and regional trends, relevant themes, strategic scenarios, and hypotheses to inform our company positions and key decisions
  • Leading new strategic initiatives and in-depth analysis of industry, market or technology deep-dive topics that support continued advancement of our strategy and development of new opportunities
  • Managing and developing members of the Strategic Planning team at SCE, ensuring high performance and quality of deliverables, and provide coaching/training

The essentials

  • 5 years experience managing a team or equivalent project management experience
  • Experience leading strategy, business planning, and/or policy development efforts

The preferred

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in business administration, economics, engineering, or related field
  • Strategic planning experience in electric utility industry
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide projects with significant long-term implications on business
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with track record of working with business stakeholders and senior executive teams

You should know

  • This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an Edison International facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
