This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.

What will you be responsible for?
- On shift, maintaining radiation protection (RP) programs.

Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting to internal and external personnel.

Participate in the development, implementation, and delivery of radiation protection programs including training.

Perform field inspections and surveys to ensure compliance with policies, practices, and procedures.

Carry out or participate in investigations of incidents / accidents.

Provide radiation protection input to the preparation of work instructions.

Develop and review radiation protection related documents.

Recommend new or modified procedures based on analysis of radiation safety performance and observations.

Obtain support from other groups and prepare necessary work requests and instructions.

Monitor progress and resolve problem areas to ensure successful implementation of radiation protection programs.

Provide technical input to work instructions by evaluating conditions and specifying requirements to control internal and external exposure as low as reasonably achievable during performance of radioactive work.

Respond to emergencies and provide support to Emergency Response activities.

Prepare radioactive material for shipment, monitor and provide advice to staff shipping radioactive material.

Maintain and update databases and documentation related to planning, conduct and assessment of radiological work.

As requested, prepare and deliver radiation protection training to internal and external personnel.

Administer and grade approved tests and evaluations.

Evaluate performance of trainees.

As directed by Manager, arrange for facilities, trainers and participants, and all necessary materials.

Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge and Skills:
-
Requires knowledge of chemistry, physics, mechanics and associated mathematics to be able to provide technical advice, and to assemble, analyze and evaluate reports, procedures and policies related to Radiation Protection.

Requires understanding of statistical treatment of data and the ability to present data in a clear and meaningful way.

Requires experience in a nuclear plant environment to become knowledgeable of plant layouts, station systems, and plant operating processes.

A current "Green" Radiation Protection qualification is considered an asset.
Education and Experience

This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the successful completion of Grade XII plus two years college in a Technician/Technologist discipline or equivalent.

This experience is considered to be normally acquired covering a period of over six years, up to and including eight years within a radiological work environment.
