Primary Purpose 

Want to get in on the ground floor of a new, clean-tech business that will help realize Maryland's vision of a clean energy future?  BGE's Utility of the Future Strategy team is looking for a dynamic, innovative Business Program Manager to help develop and launch a cutting-edge, first-of-its kind Networked Geothermal project in the BGE territory. This technology will likely play a significant role in decarbonizing energy consumption and advancing building electrification in Maryland.

This role will be part of the Project Management Office (PMO) dedicated to shaping, planning, and implementing this project by leading highly collaborative efforts across a wide network of internal experts, external stakeholders, customers, and industry partners. Specific areas of focus may include, but are not limited to, creating effective team structures, facilitating brainstorms and ideation sessions, report outs and leadership presentation, developing new partnerships, leading stakeholder and customer discussions, evaluating heat pump technology, geothermal technologies.  The Business Program Manager will develop, manage, and evaluate high profile, complex projects in support of developing and deploying a new Networked Geothermal energy system.   Other responsibilities will include developing business plans, project charters and performance metrics in support of business objectives; ensuring organizational alignment with management models and principles and drive the integration of best practices; tracking and report progress on key business initiatives; and managing quality assurance and/or change management activities involving internal and external personnel. This position will maintain an on-going interface with various BGE and Exelon organizations in areas such as the execution of business processes and strategic initiatives. Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

Primary Duties and Accountabilities 

  • Direct development and lead teams on the strategic business initiatives of developing and deploying a first-of-its kind Networked Geothermal system and home electrification. Lead requirements analysis, performance measurement, and/or quality assurance. Manage scope, schedule, and budget for strategic high profile, complex organizational projects and programs.
  • Manage and report on various aspects of the Networked Geothermal project at the working level to advance the project milestones and for leadership.  Develop performance indicators and tracking mechanisms to monitor and report results. Oversee, prepare, review, and analyze reports and controls for strategic projects and initiatives.
  • Work with a variety of functional areas to lead ideation sessions, facilitate workshops, and develop tasks and assignments. Develop work plans and monitor progress, as well as implement corrective actions where needed that are identified as a result of performance assessment.
  • Support development of and oversee the establishment of business plans, regulatory plans, and implementation plans and objectives across multiple areas / departments. Lead stakeholders in the development of business cases and prioritization of deliverables. Prepare and give presentations internally and externally on the Networked Geothermal project, progress reports, and it's benefits to customers and communities.
  • Lead change management activities for projects, programs, and initiatives. Prepare talking points, facilitate discussions, document learnings that enable scalable implementation in areas such as training of employees and external personnel for new processes and procedures. Develop and implement effective business readiness procedures.
  • Drive the integration of best practices within the organization. Investigate best practices and outside Networked Geothermal pilots across the US to create  benchmarking tools and build the knowledge base for other employees, and develop and execute work plans to support the integration of the functions and existing best practices identified. Maintain on-going interface with various Exelon organizations regarding the execution of business processes, strategic initiatives, and management model.
