Job Summary
Performs a variety of accounting functions in order to support and maintain an effective accounting program. Maintains knowledge and expertise on energy market settlement methodologies and applies technical and business expertise in daily settlement responsibilities. Key Accountabilities
Performs a variety of accounting activities including but not limited to: journal entries, account reconciliations, financial analysis and settlements.
Applies appropriate accounting procedures and maintains effective internal controls.
Completes accounting activities to maintain the books and records in accordance with GAAP.
Prepares schedules to support the quarterly and annual reporting processes.
Participates in new business initiatives and special projects as assigned.
Participates in establishing new accounting processes and streamlining existing processes.
Drive continuous improvement and standardization across the settlements.
Leads the posting of and analyses of settlement data for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting and closing procedures.
Leads the dispute/resolutions processes with counterparties, as needed, regulatory and tax reporting.
Participates in complex analytical projects with collaboration across multiple organizations.
Provides settlement expertise to other departments by Settlements as a subject matter expert.
Provides exceptional customer support and focus for internal and external customers.
Provides maintenance and improvements of internal systems for Settlements.
Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting/finance and 4-6 years accounting experience.
Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Advanced Excel skills and solid functional knowledge of Word.
Excellent financial analysis, problem solving and communication skills.
Process improvement oriented.
Thorough knowledge and experience with the financial closing process.
