The opportunity

Our Hardisty Liquids Field Operations Team is evolving to meet the needs of our business. We are seeking a keen pipeline technician who is a self-motivating collaborator. In this role the successful candidate will apply skills and aptitude to repair, install, troubleshoot, and perform planned maintenance and corrective tasks on pipeline valves, actuators, gearboxes, and other related components. With your skills and expertise, you will respond to One-Calls and complete line locates, assist with line crossings, encroachment issues. You will review crossing agreements and provide feedback to our crossings department, complete pipeline isolations, flooding and draining of assets, Complete general Right of Way (ROW) maintenance activities, perform excavations and other tasks as required. As the Pipeline Technician, you will operate and maintain oil pipelines, facilities, and auxiliary equipment in a manner to meet operational needs in compliance with South Bow and regulatory requirements, as well you may be required to perform tasks from other disciplines. *This position will require travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training

The regular work schedule will be:  

Week 1 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours / day; Friday is an 8-hour day.  

Week 2 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours / day; Friday is a Regular Day Off (RDO)  

What you will do  

  • Ensure facilities and personnel comply with South Bow safety, health, environment, and risk standards.  

  • Perform inspections related to valve servicing, troubleshooting and repair.  

  • Assist with all aspects of pipeline isolation, drain and flood.

  • Support various tasks associated with inline inspection.  

  • Perform One Call line locates.

  • Assist with all types of Line Crossings (foreign or seismic) of South Bow Pipe/Assets  

  • Identify encroachment issues.  

Minimum Qualifications  

  • High School Diploma

  • 2 years relevant work experience related to Pipelines. 

  • Excellent work safety record and a safe work attitude  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • 5 years relevant work experience related to Pipelines. 

  • Experience with valve operation, inspection, maintenance, and repair. 

  • Experience operating and maintaining high pressure Liquids pipelines and/or facilities. 

  • Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and/or SAP experience. 

This position requires candidates to: 

  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review. 

  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing. 

  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training will be required.

  • Be part of an on-call rotation and provide emergency support as required. 

  • Be subject to working conditions which include adverse weather and temperatures.
