Job Duties:
- Develop and maintain tools and processes to achieve department goals.
- Manage work projects, including energy budget preparation, generation asset upgrade feasibility analysis, monthly margin analysis, and studies on financial and operational impacts of changes in generation assets or the business environment.
- Communicate and interact with senior company management and member cooperatives.
- Lead power system modeling using ETRM systems to forecast energy, production costs, and capacity expansion impacts. Conduct relevant energy and cost forecasting and environmental impact analyses. Extract key operational characteristics and market assumptions from various sources.
- Utilize spreadsheet and database applications to develop analysis tools. Prepare documentation for governing agencies (e.g., RUS and SERC). Complete special projects as assigned and assist management with presentations and ad hoc analysis for senior management and executive staff. Maintain comprehensive documentation for all published forecasts.
- Support the completion of analysis products, including corporate and member energy and fixed cost budgets and associated projects. Coordinate with other analysts to produce final work products.
- Collaborate effectively with other departments to support their analysis efforts and gather necessary information.
- Prepare and present work products professionally, including formal presentations and written reports for peers and senior management. Address follow-up questions and issues promptly and professionally.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Research, Economics, Statistics, or related field. MBA or MBA in progress a plus.
Experience: 3-8 years in electric utility generation planning including using production cost models and experience in budgeting, planning and financial forecasting, and systems operations preferred.
Equivalent Experience: Master's degree with 1-2 years of experience.
Specialized Skills: Good knowledge of finance, accounting, forecasting, economics, and engineering fundamentals. Knowledge of generation planning forecasting, power system operations, production cost modeling and analysis, and electric utility rate making. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required. Must be proficient in Excel and have experience with PowerPoint.
