DISTRICT OFFICE: Council Bluffs, Iowa

WORK LOCATION: Council Bluffs, Iowa 

To provide specialized natural gas measurement and control support services to field operating locations to ensure the safe, cost effective, accurate, and reliable delivery of energy to end users in compliance with state/ federal regulatory guidelines, industry practices and company policies

Pay Range: $33.39 - $40.72 per hour (Determined by the current collective bargaining agreement)

Reporting Relationship: Operations Supervisor

Location: Council Bluffs, Iowa

Essential Functions:

Provides support services in performing field measurement services which includes installation, on site testing, maintenance, and repair of regulator stations, town border stations, large volume meter sets, odorization equipment, telemetry and SCADA equipment, mechanical/electronic instruments and flow computers. Serves as an expert resource on measurement related issues to field operating personnel.
Cooperates with regulatory bodies and field operating personnel in on-site inspections of measurement facilities and records. These inspections are conducted routinely and address compliance with regulations set forth by state regulatory bodies, Department of Pipeline Safety, Department of Transportation, industry practices and company policies.
Proficiency in providing measurement related sizing, application and trouble shooting for diaphragm meters, rotary meters, turbine meters, orifice meters, regulators and relief valves.
Provides work direction, advice, counsel, and training for field personnel in regard to measurement policies/practices, operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Advises management and field operating personnel of recommended changes/upgrades to equipment and policies/practices that promote safe, reliable, cost effective and accurate measurement and control facilities. Conduct special investigations of large volume metering and regulating stations addressing problems ranging from improper or unsafe equipment to isolation of lost and unaccounted for volumes.
Monitors and administers a field warehouse to maintain adequate inventories of parts for meters, regulators, SCADA, telemetry equipment, and instruments to meet field operating requirements.
Analyze, size and repair of integrated equipment systems and components, which include electronic devices, control lines, safety devices, and enclosures.
Attend safety meetings and other employee training as assigned.
Carries out other duties, which are similar, related or incidental to this position and may work as directed, in other activities that require skills of a higher classification if qualified, as per Article 15 Section 3.
Maintains, operates, tests and calibrates gas system propane air equipment.
Understands and performs connections into various types of telecommunications equipment both company and customer.
Understands and performs electrical connections of the load side of an electric meter where low voltage gloves meet the safety standard.
Installation of components or replacement of components located at any company AMI pole facility, including work performed with the portable AMI Pole Truck.

What You'll Need:

High School Diploma or equivalent
DOT operation certification and/or equivalent experience related to position is required.
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License upon hire.

What Is Desired Or Can Be Taught:

Minimum of one-year experience in natural gas measurement and control related field or equivalent experience
Knowledge of equipment and practices to support the maintenance, inspection, sizing, testing and repair of measurement and control related equipment used within the system.
Requires knowledge of computer operations of various software applications including manufacturer specific software.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Good analytical and reasoning skills.
Good reading, writing, and math skills.
Skills to trouble shoot, test and repair complex measurement.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple goals over a large service area, which may require overnight travel.
Ability to meet schedules, due dates, and work independently with no supervision and as a team member.
Good mechanical abilities.
Ability to handle stressful situations.
Ability to work in adverse conditions.
