Job Summary

Plant Support Engineers are the first responders to most day-to-day demands of the Engineering organization. They serve on engineering teams that have and/or develop an expertise in critical power plant equipment. These teams protect the work week schedule, address emergent issues, ensure site reliability, and minimize/mitigate adverse equipment conditions on plant operations. Plant Support Engineering is staffed with experienced engineers and diverse teams of mechanical, civil, electrical, and I&C disciplines.

We are currently looking for engineers of all experience levels to join our existing team at one of the largest US Utilities, supporting a major carbon-free energy producer in Northeast Ohio.

Specific position, level and salary is commensurate with previous experience and qualifications.

Job Description

Responsibilities may include:

  • Protecting work week schedule by supporting resolution of emergent, short cycle, and near-term engineering work  
  • Being the engineering point of contact for execution of online work week schedule and resolution of online Engineering Holds  
  • Engineering support of Operability process (Input to Operability, Prompt Operability Evaluations, Past Operability)  
  • Emergent complex troubleshooting support (FMEA, Confirm/Refute, etc). SMEs from other engineering groups may be required to assist as well.  
  • Corrective action program and equipment causal investigations/failure analysis 
  • Engineering post work testing  
  • Engineering technical support for FIN
  • Conducting FME evaluations (excluding RCS and SFP FM)  
  • Temp Mods, Minor Mods to support T-week and emergent design issues.
  • Maintenance Rule Evaluation

Depending on your specific expertise, you may perform or support one or more of the below functions:

  • Acoustic testing  
  • Valves and associated programs (air operated, motor operated, containment isolation, relief/safety, manual, and valve packing)  
  • Rigging evaluations and support WA approval for emergent maintenance work as necessary  
  • HVAC testing  
  • Cranes/Hoists/Lifts
  • Instrument Air Sampling
  • Compressor health monitoring Water & Steam Supply
  • Temporary leak repair evaluations
  • Freeze seal evaluations  
  • Integrated system performance Rotating Equipment  
  • Motor testing  
  • Vibration analysis  
  • Lubrication and oil analysis  
  • Predictive maintenance watchlist analysis  
  • Pumps and pump motors troubleshooting and rebuild support
  • Diesel Support
  • Turbine Support
  • Mechanical seal support
  • Electrical transient reviews  
  • Circuit breakers, relays, and transmitters
  • Transformers/ Tan Delta testing  
  • Thermography
  • Cathodic Protection
  • Cable Reliability Digital / I&C
  • Electromagnetic and Radio Frequency Interference evaluations  
  • Abnormal instrumentation response reviews  

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution required
  • Ohio EI/PE License Preferred
