Job Summary

This position is responsible for development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a Vistra long-term load forecast (5+ years) for both ERCOT and PJM. This position will work with VP - Market Analytics, Director - Load Forecasting Analytics, Director - Structuring and Quantitative Analysis, and other internal resources along with various third-party resources in the development of the forecast. The forecast, when complete, will produce an hourly, segmented projection of load in both ISOs with sensitivities for various load drivers as requested.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities

Lead the development of Vistra long-term load forecast process

Coordinate with vendors, consultants, and internal team to determine best methods for formulating forecast

Synchronize with internal resources to create forecast model framework

Meticulously follow news and other intelligence services to track industrial, crypto-mining, and data center load sources

Work closely with Vistra Retail team to utilize our own data as an input to residential, SMB, and LCI load forecasts

Source best inputs and outliers of forecasts for rooftop solar, EV load, data center load, electrification, etc. to provide POV forecast and bookends

Implement process to periodically track actual load growth, by segment when possible, and report to key stakeholders

Effectively communicate with key stakeholders including senior executives

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements

3+ years of prior experience in Forecasting, Fundamentals, Economics, Data Science, Quantitative Analysis, or related discipline

Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills

Experience with programming languages is preferred (SQL, Python, etc.)

Strong presentation and report preparation skills are required

Strong analytical, mathematical, and process modeling skills and experience

Minimum education is High School Diploma or equivalency
