Overview

PPL's Data & Analytics Office is seeking a Business Intelligence (BI) and Analytics Manager to be an integral part of the Digital Transformation.  The BI and Analytics Manager is a key role within PPL and is responsible for leading the enterprise initiatives around data visualizations and across the company.  Successful candidates have excellent communication and networking skills, a passion for data and reporting, ability to lead a team through data driven initiatives successfully, strategic mind set, execution focused and expertise in data visualization and machine learning principles.  They will need to work with stakeholders across the organization to extend the visualization Center of Excellence and steer the company to a unified visualization platform and tools. Key to success will be working closely with all business units and engineering teams to develop the strategy for PPL's data footprint. The role will report to the VP, Customer Experience & Data & Analytics.

PLEASE NOTE:   This position is Hybrid to our local offices in:  Allentown, PA ; Louisville, KY ; Providence, RI

Responsibilities

  1. Provide strategic input, leads, and coordinates data visualization efforts across the Company.
  2. Oversee and manage the data visualization and machine learning engineering team responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the Company's managed information.
  3. Directs efforts to define, modify, and review controls, processes and/or procedures to improve data visualization across PPL.
  4. Collaborate with Data Science team to build and maintain strong MLOps framework.
  5. Provide thought leadership on the use of visualization tools for the organization.
  6. Define and maintain visualization workspaces and it's associated deployment processes for the organization
  7. Serve as an interpreter or an intermediary between the users of data (business groups or other IT functions) identifying data needs of a particular group and explaining the importance and use of the data applicable to
  8. Lead the efforts in training, user adoption of visualization tools for company wide adoption
  9. Oversee development of a style guide detailing the standard for best practice on data visualization for the IT
  10. Organize and facilitate meetings with stakeholders and business leaders across the organization.
  11. Collaborate with the rest of the Data & Analytics team to develop strategies for enterprise reporting leveraging Snowflake, Oracle etc.
  12. Establish and be the primary owner for Data Visualization strategic meetings throughout the organization. Communicate to management and stakeholders through summary reports, review decks, project plans, agendas, minutes, issue / risk tracking, etc.
  13. Contribute to a positive culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence by identifying and implementing process improvements where appropriate.
  14. May be assigned an Electric Utilities emergency and storm role. This is a special assignment that comes into play during storms and other emergencies when the company needs to restore power or respond to other issues affecting customer service. This role may necessitate the need to work after-hours, outside of your normal schedule.

Qualifications

  1. 7+ years progressively responsible experience in Data Visualization and Data.
  2. Strong analytical and data visualization skills.
  3. Ability to recognize and analyze data patterns and discrepancies.
  4. Ability to resolve complex issues independently and escalate to management as needed.
  5. Excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
  6. Effectively communicates complex information with both internal and external contacts at a variety of organizational levels.
  7. Experience establishing metrics/key performance indicators to measure business impact
  8. Knowledge of ad hoc reporting and analytics tools. Ability to learn and adapt to changing technology.
  9. Show a strong sense of ownership for their deliverables
  10. Initiative and passion for finding solutions to ambiguous problems and ability to work in difficult situations and across organizational boundaries.
  11. Strong communication skills both written and verbal, with ability to communicate or convey the results to audience at all levels.
  12. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline

Preferred Qualifications:

 1.  Utilities industry experience.
