Job Summary

The person holding this position will be responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of chiller plant and associated equipment, customer refrigeration equipment, Direct Fired AHUs, and hot water systems located at the facility. All interactions with the customer and their employees are expected to be professional and courteous. NOW OFFERING A $5,000 SIGNING BONUS!

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Complies with all site safety requirements and procedures. Identifies and reports safety hazards in real time and takes corrective actions as necessary.
  • Perform work in accordance with and support the development and improvement of Standard Operating Procedures and Job Hazard Analysis.
  • Facilitates pre-job briefs with staff/contractors to ensure worker safety and DTE policies and procedures are followed.
  • Active participant of the site safety team/committee.
  • Performs routine preventive and predictive maintenance on all systems and equipment; supports corrective maintenance efforts on equipment.
  • Performs other duties necessary to fulfill plant requirements.
  • Respond to abnormalities and take corrective actions consistent with established operating procedures and good practice.
  • Conducts routine tours of the plant to inspect equipment.
  • Maintains accuracy of Daily Operations Work Logs, time sheet, work orders, and other administrative documents related to operations.
  • Performs routine cycle chemistry testing and makes the necessary adjustments to optimize efficiency. Checks daily consumption rates of chemicals, gases, fuels, water, and other consumables; monitors inventories and initiates action to replenish when appropriate.
  • Performs plant switching and tagging of equipment in accordance with approved procedures and prudent operations and maintenance practices.
  • Performs electrical and mechanical inspections, trouble- shooting, and maintenance tasks under direction of Management or Lead O&M Technician.
  • Investigates plant problems, incidents, accidents, and unusual events, and provides analyses, recommendations, reports, and appropriate follow-up plans. Reads and records gauges and meters. Performs routine operational test and adjustments on all power plant systems and components, as required.
  • Develops and assists revisions of operations and maintenance related procedures.
  • Performs and maintains housekeeping standards and duties.
  • Communicates with other company personnel on-site and at other locations.
  • Represents the company in dealing with the public, customers, vendors, contractors, regulators, and other non-company personnel under the direction of Management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED is required as well as the ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English and to do basic mathematics.
  • Must possess a Universal Refrigeration License.
  • Must possess a valid state Driver's License.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Teams, SharePoint, and Excel required.
  • Relevant experience with industrial, commercial, or residential HVAC work required.
  • Required to work rotating shift schedules, overtime, and respond to off hour call ins.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge and experience removing, adding, trimming, reclaiming, replacing of refrigerants from equipment.
  • Have working knowledge and experience with troubleshooting, testing, repairing, diagnosing, replacing of parts, components, refrigerant leak repair, brazing and repair of refrigerant lines on HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
  • Have knowledge of and experience in the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing of Air Houses, and Gas fired equipment, and Hot water systems.
  • Related Vocational Training, Technical Training, or an Associate Degree in the HVAC field will be considered in lieu of actual experience.
  • Experience with industrial Centrifugal Chillers, cooling towers, Chilled water chemical applications preferred.
  • Experience with CMMS, Leidos and BMS systems preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with pumps, fans, belts, pulleys, dampers, heat pumps, heat exchangers, dryers, and filters.
  • Ability to complete site specific qualification program as required.
  • Knowledge of basic safety procedures i.e., LOTO, Electrical Safety, Hot Work, Working at Heights, Hazardous Materials, and Lifting and supporting loads.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools, portable electric and pneumatic tools, and basic rigging equipment such as winches, chain falls, and slings.
