The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of Safety, East, the Industrial Hygiene Technician assists in the execution of the Industrial Hygiene Program and provides data management support to enhance the overall program. Skilled in data analytics, exposure monitoring, document and program maintenance, and education and awareness of Company practices and industry best practices, the individual supports the Industrial Hygiene Program to understand their needs, analyze data, and recommend changes that have a direct impact on the safety program.

This role supports the development, implementation and monitoring of the Industrial Hygiene related practices across Canada. The successful individual possesses both strong technical abilities and data analytics.

What you'll do

  • Support the Industrial Hygiene programs, procedures, and compliance training.
  • Support qualitative and quantitative exposure assessments.
  • Analyze and interpret sets of data using statistical tools and write sampling reports.
  • Develop and create data tools to manage our exposure data.
  • Support the chemical management program.
  • Sustain the hazardous substance inventory program.
  • Coordinate the Safety teams for routine and ad hoc industrial hygiene monitoring.
  • Review industrial hygiene related incident reports, incident data, and job hazard analyses.
  • Prepare trending and analysis reports.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a health or natural science-related discipline (e.g. Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Physiology, Human Factors, Biology, Chemistry, Data Analytics, Business Administration)
  • Minimum 4 years of related experience
  • Knowledge of industrial hygiene and biological/chemical/physical hazards
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong planning and organizational skills. Must be able to handle rapidly shifting priorities and multiple projects concurrently
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite. Specifically, Excel, PowerBI and Power Automate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the Oil & Gas industry
  • Familiar with legislative requirements governing industrial hygiene at the federal and provincial levels (CCOHS and other applicable Standards)
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills to work closely with field teams and management, and coordinate work with other appropriate technical resources
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Ability to produce technical reports and make oral presentations
  • Bilingual (French, English) would be an asset

This position requires candidates to:

  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record
  • Up to 40% travel to other company locations within Canada.
  • Carry a cell phone and provide on-call emergency response support on occasion
