Summary
· Under moderate direction, performs specific payroll, payroll tax and funding activities to support the payroll team and the HR organization.
Key Roles & Responsibilities Directly or through others, the incumbent:
· Process accurate and timely regular cycle and off-cycle payrolls for approximately 4,500 employees. Regular payroll cycles are semi-monthly and biweekly.
· Generate payroll data reports for review prior to finalizing payroll runs.
· Generate payroll funding data and funding documentation for review and approval.
· Coordinate with payroll vendor for tax and garnishment funding.
· Perform daily tasks of reviewing, researching and addressing Payroll tickets and inquiries from employees and vendors.
· Frequent interaction and coordination with payroll vendor, administrative assistants, accounting, tax and treasury.
· Calculate pro-rated pay for new hires, terminations and pay group transfers.
· Calculate and process retroactive pay.
· Ensure payroll cycles are finalized prior to deadlines.
· Prepare payroll import templates with payroll data for payroll processing.
· Collaborate with HRIS and other human resources groups to ensure employee data is updated timely for purposes of payroll processing.
· Review exception reports and BI alerts. Resolve or escalate to appropriate resource.
· Partner with HRIS Specialists to build and enhance payroll related BI reports.
· Validate vacation payout calculations and adherence to company policy.
· Participate in payroll year-end activities including the generation and distribution of annual W-2 forms.
· Participate in generating data for internal audit requests.
· Assist in escheatment process.
· Submit stop payments through banking application.
· Submit garnishments to garnishment vendor.
· Maintain satisfactory level of customer service.
· Backup Sr Payroll Specialist as needed.
· Perform other duties as required.
Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
· High School Diploma or equivalent.
· Two years of experience processing payroll.
· Solid understanding of payroll processing and compliance requirements.
· Experience resolving employee inquiries in an HR call center or similar experience.
· Proficient in utilizing Word and Excel.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential employee data.
· Ability to research and analyze payroll data and discern root cause.
· Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
· College degree or FPC certification.
· Familiarity with UKG Pro.
· Five years of experience in payroll processing related duties.
· Experience with in-house payroll processing.
Measures of Success
· Favorable overall opinions regarding payroll function operation from stakeholders including management and employees.
· Consistent accurate and timely processing of regular and off-cycles payrolls.
