Job Summary
General responsibilities are to support Customer Service and Operations (CSO) by performing business and operations analysis work supporting the business decision-making needs of CSO. The Specialist will act as a liaison between the IT development group and business units for the development and implementation of enhancements to existing systems and new systems. This position performs business systems needs analysis, assists in formulating and defining systems scope and objectives through research and fact finding combined with a basic understanding of business systems and industry requirements. Other responsibilities include; defining specifications, conducting testing, implementing and maintaining systems, and assists in developing recommendations to solve problems and issues related to business system operations. This role may also require project management oversight on CSO initiatives.
This position also has a role during storm mobilizations.
Job Responsibilities
- Assists in the building and maintaining of business systems
- Ensures systems are operating as designed, evaluates requests for changes, and provides routine system maintenance
- Documents system processes and procedures, suggests system improvements, and makes daily decisions involving direct application of technical knowledge to system issues
- Leads project management initiatives for system and departmental projects
- Assists in developing business cases while managing the budget and timeline for the project
- Assesses and refines system functionality by formulating solutions, developing test plans, conducting testing, and implementing improvements
- Articulates customer and technology requirements into structured documents and communications with customers and IT specialists to ensure the requirements can be clearly understood
- Maintains relationships with other IT areas and outside vendors
- Coordinates work with IT staff and other business units
- Ensures business systems are operating at an acceptable level of quality
- Monitors the use of routine controls and assists end users in developing reports and/or database queries
- Troubleshoots outage management system issues and relates feedback to IT for resolution
- Supports a variety of outage management tools and systems such as; PCAD, OMS/ADMS, ARCOS, SharePoint, and OM Web Portal
- Assists in the development and roll out of system and storm process training
- Maintains and updates a variety of documentation including; manuals, lesson plans, and procedures
Minimum Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree required; in lieu of degree, 5+ years' experience in the use of electric and gas distribution work management systems (PCAD, ARCOS, OMS, etc)
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
- Skill and ability to provide effective formal management presentations of strategic and operational business issues
- Strong analytical and computer skills, and ability to identify creative solutions to complex and abstract issues
- This position also has a role during storm mobilizations.
