Become a Data Analytics Advisor- Digital & Process Transformation at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you'll be responsible for handling the Advanced Analytics portfolio in the Digital & Process Transformation department in IT, with direct responsibility for analytics project implementation, value creation, reporting, and business outcomes. 

You will work with the technology organization and business end-users to understand data and analytics needs and develop technical requirements. You'll make decisions daily to support a team of data scientists and data engineers in solving complex problems across the entire company. You will be accountable for coordinating with IT and OU partners, handling vendor performance, adjusting financial forecasts, and developing resolution plans for risks/issues. You will be instrumental in incorporating analytics solutions into business processes, promoting citizen development in reporting / automation, and facilitating process improvement. You will use data visualization programs, tools and techniques to generate dashboards, reports and presentations that aid in data storytelling, understanding and interpretation of trends and patterns of business importance. Additionally, you will also be supporting the creation of long-term strategic roadmaps to ensure technology investments deliver positive business value and are directly associated with OU goals.
You will also work closely with the Principal Manager and Senior Manager in leading Advanced Analytics Center of Excellence, partnering with OU data science teams to develop analytics projects repository, adopting analytics model risk assessment and documentation standard, promoting technical tools and platforms, and facilitating trainings and forums.

  • Partner with the OU to define their business objectives, identify business problems, and prioritize the backlog to improve business value.
  • Serve as the liaison between SIAA, ST and SP&D Portfolios, including T&D / ASP, CS, and Enterprise, to ensure alignment and promote collaboration.
  • Work with OU partners to define business benefits/outcomes and tracks the business value realization at the completion of each project.
  • Collaborate with and drive OU, IT and vendor participation to ensure projects implement on schedule, stay within budget, and deliver stated business objectives. Serve as the first escalation point for risk management and issue remediation.
  • Partners with IT and OU management (Architecture, Cybersecurity, SMOO, SP&D) to validate resource capacity, manage staffing activities to ensure vendor / project teams have the right skills and capabilities.
  • Lead the adoption of analytics solution, incorporate newly developed tools and capabilities into day-to-day business process, track usage and benefit realization.
  • Responsible for engagements and strategic data support with specific Advanced Analytics projects and initiatives, assists in building and enhancing data pipeline and extract, transform, load (ETL) processes.
  • Determines methods and procedures for new data collection, analysis, and visualization based on requirements and broader data strategies while developing meaningful metrics.
  • Guide junior team members in data structure, quality and integrity, analysis and synthesis, visualizations, and communication of data insights.
  • Develop and contribute to automation of standard processes to create efficiencies.
  • Support the development and periodic refresh of the strategic roadmap from a people/ process / technology perspective.
  • Support Advanced Analytics Center of Excellence activities, maintain analytics projects repository, promote tools / platforms / processes / standards, and organize training activities.
  • Assist with GRC testimony to support anticipated future spend and responds to data requests from ratepayer advocacy groups.

The essentials

  • 7 or more years of experience in managing data and performing analysis.
  • Experience with analytical, visualization, and automation tools such as Power BI, SAS, Python, R, etc.

The preferred

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • 5 years of experience working in electric utility industry
  • 3 years of experience in Power BI or other visualization & reporting tools
  • 3 years of experience in in Business Process Mapping and Design, including CaseWise, Visio, Signavio, etc.
  • Experience in citizen development using PowerApp, PowerAutomate, UiPath or other tools
  • Experience in Information Governance and document management systems
  • Experience in managing suppliers, contracts, and project metrics
  • Experience in managing portfolio and handling payments
  • Experience in managing medium scale projects or cross-functional teams and ensuring quality outcomes

You should know

  • This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
