JOB SUMMARY

  • Manage new combustion turbine project. Additional new generation project/s or programs (as assigned) at the highest level of complexity and/or provide direct supervision within a matrix team environment. Provide leadership, direction, training, coordination, and effective communication to initiate, plan, execute, monitor and control, and close projects in a safe, efficient, economical, risk-balanced approach to achieve short- and long-range goals and to obtain maximum customer satisfaction. 
  • Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and manage assigned project work activities with expert level of proficiency in all aspects as well as provide direct supervision of others leading these activities. Use project management principles and techniques for project management for the organization.

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY

Responsibilities are varied and complex. Often works outside area of assigned duties. Applies advanced skills in multiple areas. Resolves complex issues which impact business operations both inside and outside own department. Makes unreviewed decisions related to the area of responsibilities. Opinions carry significant weight in policy and strategy decisions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsible for oversight of design, construction, and commissioning of large or complex system projects.

Typically will handle projects from $2M to $20M with higher complexity and risk (C projects). Higher complexity projects could include quality/reliability issues to a large number of customers, high financial risk, significant self-perform/oversight required, complex siting and land acquisition, moderate environmental/regulatory permitting, and/or multiple configuration changes.

Projects typically involve 3-4 disciplines or asset types (e.g. distribution, transmission, substation, controls, communication, boiler, turbine, etc.). May work on projects with lower complexity and risk as needed.

Ensures compliance with AFE policy.

Responsible for funding, financial analysis, and reporting status on each project.

Develops project management plans that include project scope verification, project schedules, timelines, milestones, budget estimates, cash flows, work breakdown structures, and resource requirements.

Develops timetables and priorities for the execution of all design and construction activities of the project.

Directs and coordinates various OG&E and contractor activities to complete projects on time and within budget.

Collaborates with project management, planning, land management, design, construction, operations, resource coordination, and supply chain personnel.

Ensures resource requirements are organized and forecasted to facilitate efficient utilization and capacity planning.

Evaluates need for contract assistance.

Ensures complete and timely project closeout including after-action reviews to achieve continuous improvement.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Business, or Construction Management And 6 years Project Management experience (experience performing initiation, planning, monitor and control, executing, and closing of a project) and Project Management Professional Certification (PMP); Or

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Business, or Construction Management And 9 years related experience (Project Management, Engineering, Construction, or Utility Operations) and Project Management Professional Certification (PMP); Or

12 years related experience (Project Management, Engineering, Construction, or Utility Operations) and Project Management Professional Certification (PMP);

Must also have 2 years experience leading projects.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 Direct experience in project management practices including estimating, planning, risk assessment, and project controls, including cost reporting, analysis, and schedule management.
 Project experience on large ($100 M+) construction projects.
 A broad general technical and construction background working on large-scale or electric utility new generation projects.
 Broad experience in managing simple-cycle, combined-cycle, environmental control, or other new-generation projects.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Office environment including computer work.

Outdoor work environment requiring ability to traverse rough terrain, be exposed to inclement weather, and wear PPE.

Required to work non-standard (evenings & weekend) hours to accommodate customers and extensive hours to meet deadlines.

Required to travel to Company offices and work sites including overnight trips.

Demonstrated computer skills with ability to use application software including SAP, CCS, CRTS, ArcFM, and MS Office Suite.

Demonstrated ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects under sometimes stressful and heavy workloads.

Demonstrated ability to make decisions and exercise good judgment based on customer interaction and Company policy.

Demonstrated ability to adjust and adapt across varied working conditions and evolving business needs.

Demonstrated ability to analyze and organize data into information, make a series of alternatives, and develop a recommendation.

Track record of ensuring high quality work by self and others on project team and overseeing work of less experienced team members.

Ability to perform duties with a minimum of oversight.

Ability to communicate directly with Senior Management.
