Description
What You'll Do:
As a Treasury Manager, you will play a key role as part of our global Treasury team by leading the charge in crafting and executing foreign exchange and interest rate hedging strategies. Your role will also involve conducting financial analyses across diverse areas and assisting in both short- and long-term strategic planning for Corporate Finance. Reporting to the Head of Treasury, you will also provide crucial support to other departments such as FP&A and Accounting & Reporting by delivering reports and analyses on a quarterly, yearly, and ad-hoc basis.

Key Responsibilities:

Hedging

  • Maintain, refine and communicate a foreign exchange and interest rate modelling methodology to the Business Units, FP&A and Development Finance teams, working closely with the Financial Risk Oversight team to ensure proper implementation and usage.
  • Work with internal stakeholders, third-party advisors, and banking partners to develop, execute, and manage foreign exchange, interest rate and other hedging strategies to address corporate and project-level financial risks, in accordance with Northland's internal policies and practices.
  • Act as the Northland representative on working groups with partners, project teams and independent advisors.
  • Collaborate closely with the Financial Risk Oversight group to (i) deliver comprehensive regular reporting to Northland's executives and Board, and (ii) develop and refine internal policies and procedures based on current strategies and objectives.
  • Work closely with the Accounting & Reporting and Tax teams to communicate relevant accounting and tax considerations in respect of corporate and project-level hedging activities.
  • Develop an understanding of the currency and interest rate markets in Northland's core and prospective growth jurisdictions in order to support the Growth and Development teams with relevant assumptions and insights.

Strategic Initiatives & Other Activities

  • Support the Growth teams with corporate-specific analyses and metrics to assist with project evaluations.
  • Develop an understanding of the power industry and Northland's peer group in order to assist in developing relevant benchmarks and analyses.
  • Proactively identify opportunities and key drivers to improve Northland's long-term outlook.
  • Support the senior finance team by providing thoughtful and comprehensive analyses that assist in strategic decision-making.
  • Assist in certain aspects of the financial reporting close process, including preparing material for external auditors, management, and the Board of Directors.
  • Assist in internal corporate reporting requirements and special projects as required.
  • Participate in and support cross-functional projects and initiatives involving Financial Risk Oversight, FP&A, Project Finance and Corporate Finance, such as asset level financings and capital raises.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in a Treasury and/or Hedging-focused role at a corporate or financial institution.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance/business or related field.
  • Knowledge of Canadian and international foreign exchange and interest rates markets.
  • Strong analytical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Bloomberg.
  • CFA, CTP or other treasury-related designations are considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of hedge accounting is considered an asset.
