Job Summary
This position manages all aspects of Transmission Trading in designated ISO (either PJM, MISO, ERCOT, NY/NE, CAISO) by:Optimizing Vistra's current and future nodal position of generators length and load obligations (hedging) and
Maintaining a profitable point of view congestion trading book while maintaining fundamental and technical models based
Developing internal point of view for items one and two above using fundamental and technical methodologies
Job Description
Key Accountabilities:
- Active management of Vistra's nodal positions in short, mid and long term
- Support the optimization of nodal risk introduced by Vistra's development and retail
- Maintains a profitable power basis speculative trading book
- Support the shaping of markets by collaborating with Vistra's Regulatory teams
- Perform all tasks while following all external regulations and internal risk policy of Vistra Corp
Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements:
- 15+ years experience in the power basis industry, specifically in the designated ISO.
- Robust mathematical skill and ability to process large amounts of information to synthetize it into actionable commercial decisions
- Thorough knowledge of the power system in the designated ISO and the rules regulating it
- Ability to develop and execute trading strategies
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience or coursework in the following areas are applicable to above skills:
- Multivariate calculus and differential equations
- Linear algebra and/or econometric analysis
- Statistics, probability and discrete mathematics
- Algorithm and process design
- Finance and economics
- Steady state power system analysis
Key Metrics:
- Maintains a net positive savings from the start value and actual delivery costs
- Maintains a profitable proprietary trading book
- If applicable market, ARR Optimization when compared to market wide results
