The Opportunity

Our South Bow Pipe Integrity team is growing to meet our business needs to function as an independent operator and we are looking to add a new team member in Calgary, AB (or Houston, TX) to lead our corrosion prevention program.

We are seeking an experienced Corrosion Prevention (CP) Engineer who has knowledge and experience in the design, monitoring and scoping of mitigative activities of impressed current cathodic protection systems. This individual will have the proven skills, competencies and capacity to collaborate with CP technicians, contractors and project execution teams to ensure the pipeline system is adequately protected against corrosion to allow continued safe operations of the asset and compliance with regulations.

What you'll do

  • Own, maintain, and implement the corrosion prevention specifications and practices for the business
  • Collaborate with CP technicians to scope annual survey programs
  • Analyze incoming CP data and identify deficiencies requiring remediation, including AC mitigation and Remote Monitoring Unit troubleshooting
  • Scope and design CP remedial projects for assets as needed
  • Support project execution teams to ensure successful implementation of designs
  • Build and implement program oversight structure for third party providing CP services
  • Support regulatory engagement and reporting activities for Canadian and US regulators

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline
  • 4 - 6 Years' experience related to Corrosion Prevention programs
  • Completion of AMPP CP 2 program
  • Registered, or eligible to register, with APEGA as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good-standing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registered for, or completed, AMPP CP 3 or CP 4 program
  • Experience with Canadian or U.S.  pipeline design, construction, operations, and/or integrity
  • Knowledge of integrity related PHMSA, CER and AER requirements including changes within latest revisions
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to analyze and interpret data, and convey information to a variety of stakeholders
  • Licensed P.E. under the Texas Engineering Practice Act for US candidates

This position requires candidates to:

  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review
  • Have current, valid authorization to travel internationally (including but not limited to Canada, US and Mexico)
  • Travel across North America to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training (estimated up 10% of work schedule)
