Description
Primary Purpose
The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting with the timely and accurate preparation of the Company's internal and external financial reporting, including the preparation of the Company's monthly consolidated analyses and SEC filings on Forms 10-Q, 10-K and 8-K, under the direction of senior staff, supervisor and/or manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with the financial reporting process for the preparation of required quarterly and annual SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q and earnings release materials.
  • Prepares work papers to support SEC disclosures, which includes coordination with accounting teams and other departments for data collection.
  • Prepares work papers to support financial statement fluctuation analyses used in reports provided to senior management.
  • Performs technical accounting and SEC research related to areas of responsibility.
  • Prepares and book monthly consolidating journal entries.
  • Assists in the tagging and review of XBRL.
  • Completes the SEC/GAAP disclosure checklist for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Develops and implement process improvements related to various financial reporting processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics or related business administration field, required.
  • CPA, CMA, MBA and/or other professional certificates/advanced degrees, preferred.

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in public and /or professional accounting, required.
  • Experience with multi-company consolidations and prior SEC reporting, preferred. 

Skill and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of US GAAP is required.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of accounting methods and techniques and possess excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to interface effectively with all levels within the organization.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of products, including strong Excel and Word skills.
  • Workiva (Wdesk), SAP, Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) proficiency is desirable.
  • Team player who can establish positive and productive working relationships with others.
  • Self-starter who brings energy, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude to every responsibility and project. Has a passion for innovative ideas and a sustained focus on continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment with demanding deadlines.
  • Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.
  • We offer a hybrid work environment. Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow you to work from the office three days per week and work remotely on the remaining workdays.
