In support of achieving excellence and business results through safe, reliable operations, our Quality Assurance Program department is currently hiring for a Quality Program Specialist.
The Quality Program Specialist is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of the Quality Assurance Program (QAP), and will provide ongoing oversight to the QAP, validating effective implementation across the business.
This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.

What will you be responsible for?
- Work in accordance with prescribed safety policies and regulations

Perform Quality related Oversight activities in accordance with a plan. Review, evaluate and contribute to the preparation of Oversight Planning

Develop solutions to Quality related problems. Evaluate the business activities of the Division against Quality Management criteria approved by the Vice President/Department Managers/Directors. Report findings and provide improvement recommendations

Develop Department specific procedures and practices to ensure effective implementation of Quality Management requirements and established Governance
-
Plan, develop and present training courses for staff of Bruce Power and associated organizations to ensure that quality-related policies, procedures and practices are understood and properly implemented

Interface with standards organizations, regulatory agencies, and industry working groups to ensure that standards and practices developed, or approved for use in Canada, are compatible with Bruce Power interests

Development and maintenance of the QAP document BP-PROG-17.01 (preparation, control, and revisions thereto)

Prepare, implement and maintain the Quality Assurance Manual (QAM) developed in accordance with applicable standards and Bruce Power requirements

Prepare and revise QAP related implementation documents, presentations and other supporting requirements including but not limited to, procedures, internal standards, training material, guides and intranet resources

Review (QAP flagged) procedures and other documents used to implement QAP requirements

Prepare and maintain the Program Health Assessment containing program metrics, risks and continuous improvement plan items

Interface/Collaborate with the BP interfacing Program Leads and Owners related to the QAP requirements' implementation

Provide QAP support to Bruce Power Perform Organizations (including but not limited to Projects, Engineering, Construction, Maintenance) including interpretation of QAP and QAM requirements

Plan, execute and report on oversight activities related to implementation of the QAP in Bruce Power including interfacing programs. This includes Gap Analyses, Missed Opportunity Reviews, Observations, Focus Area Self Assessments and Benchmarking

Act as a SPOC, when requested, for audits and inspections

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in quality management, regulatory codes and standards and Quality Assurance qualifications through attendance in training courses, seminars, contacts with professional organizations and literature reviews in accordance with the QA qualifications and training requirements

Specific Responsibilities:

Development and implementation of goals, policies, and procedures pertaining to QAP in compliance with all applicable regulations

Collaborate/Interface with other relevant programs, organizations and individuals, from the various disciplines, and engages them in the planning, formulating and agreeing to comprehensive - quality procedures with respect to Design Quality, Procurement Quality, Process Quality and Installation Quality

Monitors process improvement efforts and provides supporting metrics to ensure successful and consistent process improvements are implemented

Initiates necessary actions to correct adverse quality trends

Participates in QAP related industry wide benchmarking, detailed gap analysis, synthesis of lessons learned during the delivery of programs and projects and the incorporation of this information into the Bruce Power's QAP

Assists in set up and maintenance of up-to-date QAP documentation providing a framework for programs and procedures ensuring that correct and safe practices are followed and construction activities are maintained to a high standard

Upholds Bruce Power standards for QAP

Collates and analyzes quality performance data and charts against defined parameters and prepares relevant documents and or presentations for the leadership team and/or other program/project teams

Participate in relevant quality-related training

Assess nonconformance reports and conditions adverse to quality related to the QA program, reports to Senior Management and recommends or takes corrective action as required

Education and Experience

This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired either through the completion of a four (4) year bachelor's degree in engineering, science or related field or equivalent technical level of education

6 years up to an including 8 years is considered necessary to gain this experience
-
Experience in the nuclear industry with practical experience in quality assurance/quality control
-
Technical experience with nuclear industry code applications in Canada (i.e., CSA N299, N286, N286.7, N285, ASME NQA-1, ASME BPV Code Section III, Section V, Section IX)
-
Involvement in development of Canadian & International Nuclear Standards (i.e., ASME, CSA) considered an asset
-
Knowledge and experience gained within the Nuclear Industry in the area of Quality Assurance Program development and maintenance considered an asset

Quality Lead Auditor/Auditor experience considered an asset
