Design Engineering

Our team of design engineers proactively manage the Plant Design Basis and drive equipment performance, safety margins and profitability over the life of the stations. Through rigorous process optimization, analysis, modifications and the maintenance of critical design documents, the team develops standardized solutions to meet changing equipment, regulatory and commercial requirements.

Station Engineering

Our station engineers are the cornerstone of technical conscience in the safe, reliable and event free operation of the plant. This team drives Equipment Reliability through oversight of design, license and operating margins and in parallel, preventing and predicting equipment failures through proactive engineering and executing long term equipment reliability strategies.

Reactor Safety Engineering

Reactor Safety Engineering plays a key role in ensuring the safe operation of Bruce Power reactors and protection of the environment for both the Public and our Bruce Power employees.  This team of highly skilled individuals leverages innovative ideas to implement alternative ways of maintaining and improving nuclear safety margins.

A day in the life of an Engineer:

Engineers at Bruce Power are required to provide technical evaluations and advice, solve problems and co-ordinate technical work in several major work areas, including the support of commissioning, operation, and maintenance of the facilities. As a new engineer building a career in the nuclear industry or an experienced engineer looking to grow your career at Bruce Power; there are many opportunities to learn and apply classroom knowledge or your experience in a meaningful way.

Many new Engineers work in the station, where they are up close and personal with the systems and teams of people that keep the plant running. Other opportunities allow Engineers to work on a project designing a piping system and afforded the opportunity to go on "walk downs" to physically check the existing systems and how the new system will interface. They gain invaluable insight from those in the plant who are open to answering any questions about their specific systems.

Other responsibilities may include the preparation of technical documents such as equipment specifications and engineering calculations. The engineering positions at Bruce Power include responsibilities and technical focus that provide you with a sense of the challenging and engaging engineering work that is available within the nuclear industry.
