Position Summary

The Chief Architect of Enterprise Architecture is accountable for proactively and holistically leading enterprise responses to disruptive forces by identifying and analyzing the execution of change toward the desired business vision and targeted outcomes. The Chief Architect of Enterprise Architecture is responsible for taking a practical approach to supporting the business. This starts and ends with a focus on delivering signature-ready, actionable recommendations to business leaders, so they can adjust policies and projects to achieve target business outcomes.

Chief Architect of Enterprise Architectures is a critical executive leader that oversees and manages the formal enterprise architecture program, directly leading a team of architects (business, information, solution, technical and other) and enterprise IT governance practitioner.

The Chief Architect of Enterprise Architecture is responsible for helping business leaders enable their future-state business capabilities driving the organization's targeted business outcomes through the choice of programs, projects, and initiatives the organization chooses to invest in. Chief Architect of Enterprise Architectures must be capable of practically applying existing, new, and emerging technologies to new and evolving business and operating models while being able understand, monetize and operationalize new technologies.

Chief Architect of Enterprise Architectures lead and coordinate all aspects of the EA program, including: (1) business architecture, which is focused on guiding people, process and organizational change; (2) information architecture, which is focused on the consistent sharing of information across the enterprise; (3) solutions architecture, which is focused on developing a direction for managing the portfolio of to-be solutions; (4) technical architecture, which is focused on evolving the technical infrastructure; and (5) security architecture, which is focused on managing IT risk through the exchange of information between people, systems and things inside and outside the organization. (6) Application architecture is a subset of solutions architecture, (7) Enterprise IT Governance, which focuses holistically the digital delivery and operational efficiencies in delivering the business outcomes. 

Chief Architect of Enterprise Architectures lead the EA program and its efforts to develop, maintain and govern the enterprise architecture across the organization. They are responsible for defining the EA process and architecture review and advisory process, and for leading the integration of those processes with related business and IT processes. They lead, prioritize and develop the overall enterprise architecture approach for the organization, and communicate architectural direction. 

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Translates CPS Energy's overall strategic direction & business objectives into aligned enterprise architecture strategies
  • Lead the development of the enterprise architecture & governance strategy & roadmap & ensures its integration with the overall IT & enterprise strategic plans
  • Articulate how strategic, emerging, & operational technologies can help CPS Energy be successful through efficiency, profitability, customer & employee satisfaction
  • Stay updated on tech trends and regulations & Laws
  • Provide expertise in budgeting & financial management; chargeback models, ROI, & P/L 
  • Develop & maintain a technology workforce with the appropriate mix of business knowledge, technical skills & competencies
  • Attract & retain architectural talent as well as leverage diverse talents and encourages individual and team development for growth
  • Lead and evolve EA function 
  • Ensuring optimal governance structure & compliance activities are associated with EA compliance 
  • Lead the development of an implementation plan for EA; oversee implementation of EA and governance and continuously refine, and documentation of all EA design & analysis work
  • Consult with program/project teams to fit solutions to architecture across all viewpoints
  • Define organizational requirements for resources, structures & cultural changes support the EA
  • Promoting processes, outcomes and results to the organization, including the enterprise's IT & business leaders 
  • Assist in the coordination of data & cloud governance activities
  • Understand the information needs of the enterprise 
  • Develop & maintain an integrated, subject-oriented, conceptual enterprise data model that represents data produced & consumed across the enterprise; cross-references map elements of the enterprise data model, function, & process business models
  • Develop & maintain an enterprise data model to information systems, business applications, & data-oriented information technologies
  • Work with digital experience team to develop digital transformation roadmap & phased approach for execution to transform the customer & employee experience
  • Detail potential competitive threats that are generally considered outside of traditional realm of competition
  • Analyze enterprise business context, as well as change requirements in other architecture viewpoints, to derive the Network Architecture future state
  • Define, communicate and document standards & technology for Network Architecture
  • Lead the analysis of the current technology environment to detect deficiencies & recommend solutions
  • Create security, cloud & infrastructure architecture models that reflect our strategies & goals
  • Develop devOps pipeline to support continuous deployment of Managed Cloud standard architecture
  • Recommend & participate in the design & implementation of security, cloud & infrastructure standards, tools & methodologies
  • Implementing & optimizing deployment pipelines, configuration management, monitoring & reporting tools to automate product deployments

Minimum Skills

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

Previous experience as a successful enterprise architect highly desirable.

Exp in at least two IT dsplns (such as tech archit, solution archit, network mgmt, application dev, middleware design, infor analysis, database mgmt or oper mgmt) in a heterogeneous envir - or exp in solution archit, busi analysis or busi strat planning.

Demonstrated track record of leading high-performance teams toward the successful attainment of challenging goals.

Knowledge of business ecosystems, SaaS, infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), SOA, APIs, open data, micro services, event-driven IT and predictive analytics.

Exposure and understanding of existing, new and emerging technologies, and processing environments.

Exceptional soft and interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation.

Strong leadership skills.

Excellent analytical and technical skills.

Excellent written, verbal, communication, and presentation skills.

Excellent planning and organizational skills.

Knowledge of all components of holistic enterprise architecture.

Knowledge of business engineering principles and processes.

Familiarity with basic graphical modeling approaches, tools, and model repositories.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters' degree in business, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, system analysis or a related field of study, or equivalent experience
  • Additional training or certification in organization change management highly desirable
