Summary

APS Palo Verde is looking for a Chemistry Technical Support Summer Intern  to join their team in Tonopah, AZ.

The APS Chemistry Technical Support Summer Intern will have the opportunity to gain hands-on work experience and work on a diverse range of projects in Chemistry Operations and Chemistry Technical Support to include preparing design change requests, observing sampling of plant systems and the associated sample analysis, participate in routine instrument maintenance, observe, and participate in environmental sampling and analysis. Research chemical products related to open water algae controls. Responsibilities are not limited to but may include the following:

  • Collaborate and communicate with internal and external stakeholders to understand and meet design change request requirements
  • Support chemistry technicians with plant system sample analysis
  • Perform data analysis related to chemistry system trends
  • Manages and supports open water algae control project

The Palo Verde Summer internship is a paid 10 week program.  During the 10 weeks at Palo Verde you will be equipped with the tools needed to thrive and be challenged with meaningful individual and group projects.  You will get support from leaders who will help you succeed. Interns will also have the opportunity to participate in a New Hire Orientation, Professional Development opportunities and company tours to learn more about Palo Verde and Arizona Public Service.  

The Palo Verde Internship is a paid 10 week program starting in May, ending in July.  Qualified students will receive housing during the program, if an in person internship.

Minimum Requirements

Actively enrolled in an accredited college or university undergraduate degree program. 

Must show ongoing achievement in areas of study and training.

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited college or university undergraduate program in an chemical/chemistry discipline or related applied science discipline
  • Experience with laboratory equipment, instruments, and techniques
  • Knowledge of laboratory/chemical safety protocols and best practices
