We are seeking a highly skilled Senior or Lead Cloud Architect to join our team. As key contributor you will:
Be responsible for modernizing the architecture of applications in our production environment. It's important to note that this is not an application support role. Instead, you will be tasked with identifying areas within our production application infrastructure that would benefit from replacement, retirement, or rebuilding. Rather than focusing on a single application for an extended period, this role will constantly present new challenges as you architect modernization solutions. Some recent projects have included consolidating and replacing our collaboration tools with Microsoft Teams, architecting our HW/SW asset inventory system, and automating portions of our DevOps pipeline.
The company's growth has been rapid, and it has now reached a significant turning point where it is adopting many of the formal disciplines of a larger, more mature IT organization. The Enterprise Architecture (EA) organization at SPP is relatively young, being around 4 years old, but it has strong executive support and is already making a significant impact on the security, efficiency, and reliability of our IT infrastructure. To be successful as the Senior or Lead Cloud Architect, we're looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience
- Lead Architect: Twelve (12) plus years of applicable experience in IT involving systems/software architecture, design, development and deployment
- Senior Architect: Eight (8) years of applicable experience in IT involving systems/software architecture, design, development, and deployment
- Experience documenting systems and software architectures using modeling languages (UML, E-R diagrams, etc.)
- Expert written and oral communication skills
- Experience in hardware and software evaluation principles, practices, and guidelines
- Experience in requirements gathering and developing strategic plans
- Expert technical architecture, support, and documentation skills
- Expert analytical and problem solving abilities
Preferred:
- Experience with FinOps for metered services in the cloud (implementation and/or administration)
