As an Electrical Design Project Engineer on our Power Supply Engineering Services team, you'll play a crucial role in designing, optimizing, and maintaining electrical systems that power the world around us.

Your Role: As an Electrical Design Project Engineer, you will be a key player in our mission to provide reliable, sustainable, and cutting-edge electrical solutions. Here's what you'll be doing:

  • Design Excellence: You'll plan and execute the design, procurement, installation, and maintenance of a wide range of electrical systems and apparatus, including electric motors, protection elements, transformers, cabling, and substation equipment. Your designs will directly impact the reliability of generation assets.
  • Innovation Hub: You will have the opportunity to provide creative design improvements and engineering solutions to electrical challenges at various power generation facilities including thermal, hydro, and wind. Your ideas will shape the future of energy generation.
  • Reliability Matters: You'll play a vital role in enhancing the operation, reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance of our company's generating resources. Your work will ensure that our power generation facilities run smoothly, efficiently, and in compliance with the highest industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Standards

  • Maintains currency in state-of-the-art engineering practices and independently applies professional knowledge of engineering processes and standards to assignments/projects.
  • Applies professional knowledge of NERC/WECC Reliability Standards and NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection and professional knowledge of NEC and NESC to plant design and construction and applies engineering theories and concepts in enhancing knowledge of power generation facilities; enhances familiarity with and ability to find specific IEEE standards.
  • Prepares a variety of moderately complex engineering deliverables; leads smaller production teams. Develops engineering solutions that meet technical requirements, all applicable codes and regulatory requirements and follow sound engineering practice.

Project Coordination

  • Assigns tasks and coordinates with other internal/external team members on assigned projects; shares information and provides professional guidance in executing project tasks.
  • Provides complex design, construction, operation, maintenance or testing elements in support of engineering and construction needs of hydro, wind and thermal plants; contributes to capital budget and job estimates.

Knowledge Sharing

  • Shares current knowledge of latest technology and processes; may assist with mentoring, recognition and any corrective actions required.

Education/Experience/Certifications

Electrical Design Plant Engineer - P2 Level

  • Education: Requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.  ABET-accredited engineering program or program accredited by an equivalent agency preferred.
  • Experience: Two or more years in related field.
  • Certifications, Licenses and Training: Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam strongly preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License requires
