Provides high-level technical support and expertise associated with continuous monitoring and management of corporate voice and data networks. Performs network configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting of outages and performance degradation, tuning and optimization, maintenance and coordination of technical support with IT service groups and external service providers.

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY

Complex responsibilities related to primary focus of job area. Uses best practices and in-depth business knowledge to solve complex problems and improve products or services. May adapt procedures, processes and techniques to meet the more complex requirements of position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assist in the overall integration, planning, design, and implementation of enterprise-wide networks including both voice and data networks as well as security systems.

Isolate, coordinate and resolve performance problems utilizing a variety of hardware and software diagnostic/testing tools and techniques.

Provide guidance and work leadership for day to day activities.

Use best practices and knowledge of business and technology issues to improve the team's work processes.

Monitor, evaluate, and maintain security systems according to industry best practices to safeguard internal information systems and databases.

Schedule planned outages and coordinate with stakeholders.

Perform system upgrades and backups.

Tune, adjust and perform routine operational checks on equipment.

Maintain data and records as required.

Coordinate work with customer and internal/external service providers.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree And 5 years experience working in Networking or Telecommunications Systems; Or

Associate's Degree in a technical field, And 7 years experience working in Networking or Telecommunications Systems; Or

High School Diploma/GED And 8 years experience working in Networking or Telecommunications Systems.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Requires on-call duty after work hours as assigned.

May be required to work non-standard work schedules.

Occasional overnight or extended travel required.

Requires ability to work extensive hours at the computer terminal.

SPECIAL SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAS)

Detailed understanding and knowledge of voice and data network systems.

Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing with members at all levels throughout the organization and outside professionals; ability to interface with diverse personalities.

Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities.

Computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Suite.

Team Player.

Internal customer focus with excellent customer service skills.
