Directly supports leadership in all financial matters to achieve the company's financial goals. Plan, prepare, research, analyze and implement financial strategies and plans in collaboration with cross functional teams. Prepare and assist in presenting information for internal decision making with respective leadership. Be able to research, communicate and lead discussions around variances to plans of all financial aspects of operational outcomes.  Be an integral member of cross function teams working to achieve successful company initiatives, including but not limited to rate review filings, compliance filings, tariff proposals, financial plan support, and data analysis and studies. 

SALARY RANGE: Determined by the knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant.

  • Analyst II: $75,550 - $,113,350
  • Senior Analyst: $88,700 - $133,150
  • Principal Analyst: $100,650 - $166,050

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:   Manager, Finance 

LOCATION: Castle Rock, Colorado

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  •  Contribute to the development of and support the analysis, and interpretation of financial forecasts, including budgets and strategic plans.
  • Evaluate the accuracy of forecast vs. actual results and refine process to the point that it serves as an instrument of financial control in the close process and guides and supports business decisions. 
  • Assist in developing and maintain logical and flexible financial models that produce a full set of financial statements utilizing existing tools and software in an efficient manner.
  • Prepare, analyze, understand and interpret company financial and statistical data used in all studies. 
  • Present analytical conclusions (orally and in writing) to management, and other partners in an organized, concise, and timely fashion.
  • Interpretation of agreements, tariffs, regulations, whitepapers, procedural memos, and policies.  Support the implementation of impacts of any changes with limited oversight.
  • Understanding of how operational and financial decisions impact the financial statements, including impacts to rate making model, GAAP, FERC, SEC reporting and internal controls.  Understands risk factors and mitigation of risk.
  • Support and assist in the preparation, presentation, and reporting of information for internal decision-making and filings with the appropriate Commissions and/or regulatory body.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with all employees, regulators, commission staff, business associates, consultants, customers, and other stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Analyst II:

  • Minimum of (3) three years of experience in finance, accounting, regulatory or related field required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field of study required or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 

Senior Analyst:

  • Minimum of (5) five years of experience in finance, accounting, regulatory or related field required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Principal Analyst:

  • Minimum of (7) seven years of experience in finance, accounting, regulatory, or related experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Proficient understanding of the utility operations, along with the regulatory/ratemaking process, and their accuracy/impact within financial planning.  Proficient knowledge of accounting and financial concepts, including internal controls, and their impact within financial planning.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, and the ability to perform detailed and complex analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, project schedules and priorities effectively within a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent user capabilities with MS Office software (proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.)  Experience working with database, financial and collaborative software tools (FileNet, Sharepoint, Peoplesoft, Utilities International, etc.) 
  • Ability to accurately perform required tasks and meet deadlines while paying close attention to detail and understanding and considering the big picture.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and to work independently as well as with a team.
  • An eagerness to learn and quickly assimilate information and concepts.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of business information.
