Description

The Director of Business Development for Clean Energy will be responsible for identifying, developing, and executing growth opportunities for B&W's clean energy technologies. Focus on H2 Generation, PtX applications, Carbon Capture, Carbon Direct Removal, Energy Storage, Waste to Energy (WtE) and biomass to energy (BtE) markets. Additionally, responsible for working with other sales personnel and product line managers focused on key Clean Energy technology for the region.  This role is a senior sales professional working as an individual contributor on a highly motivated sales team. 

The main objective of this role is to drive revenue growth and profitability by identifying key projects and key customers and building relationships with key stakeholder.

  • Developing key customers and key projects and then working to win the project.  Developing the strategy to close the deal with the customer.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, industry associations and regulatory bodies, to support business growth and advocacy efforts
  • Support development and negotiation of contracts and pricing agreements with customers and partners to ensure profitability and customer satisfaction
  • Working closely with product development teams to ensure that the company's products and services meet the needs of customers and the market
  • Staying up-to-date with industry trends and competitor activities and using this information to inform business development strategy and planning
  • Creating and delivering presentations and proposals to prospective customers and partners, and participating in industry events and conferences to promote the company's clean energy products and services
  • Ensuring compliance with corporate ethic & compliance guidelines, safety as well as company policies and procedures

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of clean energy industry or related fields, such as decarbonization, clean energy fuels, renewable energy, or sustainable development. Specific experience in environmental science, renewable energy, or sustainable development would be beneficial
  • 8+ years of business development experience including management experience as well as sales or marketing
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, science, business, or a related field would be beneficial, but not required
  • Deep understanding of the technologies and processes used in the industry. This includes knowledge of renewable energy, carbon capture and direct removal, P3X, solar, H2 generation, bioenergy applications, and waste to energy technologies, as well as energy storage systems
  • Able to analyze market trends and identify opportunities for growth, develop business strategies, and manage budgets and resources effectively. Requires a strong understanding of business models for clean energy technologies, including project financing and revenue streams
  • Cross-functional team leader, able to communicate effectively with stakeholders, and build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and partners. Strong mentor able to develop the skills of team members
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems related to business and product development, marketing, and sales
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders, including investors, customers, business partners and team members. Capable of presenting complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Develop and implement long-term strategies for business development, taking into account market trends, competitive pressures, and customer needs.
  • Committed to sustainability with a deep understanding of the environmental, social, and economic benefits of clean energy are essential for success in this role.
  • Ability to travel (domestic/international) 75%
  • Have a network of customers and suppliers previously worked with in the Clean Energy sector.
